Yeah, I had it perfectly placed, was putting the work surface back, and then realized there are positioning tabs molded into the work surface that fit into holes in the tailgate that I didn’t see (long day…got a little rushed at the end). I didn’t punch holes in the surface of the BedRug to accommodate them and it left me two buldges? as I reintalled the Torx screws.

It forced me to pull the surface back off to punch the holes for the tabs, and thus reposition the rug. I already had the top row of Velcro set on the tailgate and reinstalling the work surface “tugged” on them….and is now pulling on them (See photo). I need to get some more Velcro and reinstall that top row to clean it up.

Other than that, I’m happy with my outcome…….

Velcro is coming off of what? The front? the tailgate?

I just have one strip on the front edge and one strip on the tailgate, and mine stays put. I've never put any velcro on the sides, as they just tuck up under the edges of the side rails.

I also have not removed any of the hold downs and cleats and installed them on top of the bedrug because I occasionally pull the whole thing out and hit with the vacuum cleaner and if I've gotten something nasty in the back I've used the pressure washer on it. This same bedrug I've used on my last three F-150s, I just keep moving it when I trade trucks in.

To make sure the hook side of the velcro stays on when installing it the first time, I wipe the painted surface with naptha so that the adhesive on the velcro bonds properly. Works great and stays put.

The car wash seems to be part of the problem as the one spot water can still squeze in is around my tonneau cover and melt the adhesive. The last guy did the full cut out for all the lights and plugs so this thing is staying with the truck.

The extreme cold of minneosta winters don't seem to help either

Ah...yeah. I have a Ford accessories folding three panel tonneau and I have to make sure the front edge rubber seal is covering the leading edge whenever I put it back on after removing it to carry something large. It's weird that the front edge of the box is curved like it is.

I traded in my ICE truck that had the bed rug and swapped the bed rug to the Lightning. I just used new velcro for the bed of the truck.
Get the heavy duty hook and loop velcro and it will stay put.
