I think Ford needs to add the vehicle avatars on the screen to show what it is seeing on the road. Like Tesla and Rivian and a handful of other self driving capable vehicles. It would give me much more confidence in using BlueCruise.

I would love to see this, it would increase my confidence in the system as well. I would like it to show me what it can and can’t see so I know if I need to intervene before it makes a mistake, instead of after.

To the extent that I understand this proposal, it's just stupid.

I have more confidence in BC than AP.

I just don't understand the obsession with screens and avatars and OTA updates. It's all just bizarre to me. Then again, I stick my phone in the center console as I enter the vehicle, and don't touch it until I'm done driving. I also hate touching screens. Physical buttons are cool, especially when they are arranged in a logical manner and some even have protrusions or texture so you can tell by feel alone which button you're touching. I recently sold an old BMW that had about 100 buttons in the center stack alone. It was awesome. After about three months of driving that car I could adjust just about everything without taking my eyes off the road. Many folks these days seem to love their phone more than life itself.

I’m so confused. Are we in the F150 Lightning forum still?
Joking aside. I kind of agree with you but am willing to embrace the future. Which is what Ford needs to do. When you use BlueCruise it needs to give more confidence to the driver. That is what the avatars would do. Which is why all the other manufacturers use them on their self driving tech.

I think the driver already has enough confidence if they're constantly looking at the screen instead of the road.

It's not about whether the driver is paying attention and has confidence in seeing the vehicles around. It's about a way to understand what the vehicle's sensors are sensing. It's about raising confidence in the system itself.

Ford doesn't have to tell us anything. But if I know what the system is understanding about the world around it, I am more likely to have confidence in it to perform correctly.

That doesn't change my responsibility or desire to maintain vigilance and awareness, nor does it mean I'm going to try to get it to do more, it's just a practical way that Ford (or any system designer) can help its users adopt its use faster.

You are confused about OTA’s? Why is it confusing wanting your vehicle to progress and get better after purchase? :|
