It is funny if I ask for the adapter from CCS to NACS? I have Ford Pro Charger installed and as you know that come as an CCS.
What if I have/purchase another EV or Plug -in hybrid which only has NACS plug in, what should I do? (we actually own a plug-in now but still have to charge level 1, duh), Thanks

You will need to buy an adapter, or extension cord, and modify the plug. Multiple posts on this.

This was my idea on how to cut a J1772 extender cord:

Ford F-150 Lightning CCS to NACS: 00-CCS1 to J1772 DIY

Then it should fit. I'd probably use my WEN 2312 variable speed multi function oscillating tool to cut it. Or do it by hand with a hack saw with a plastic cutting blade. (The red is where to cut, I just edited the pic I had on the sides - don't need to cut those)

OK I bought a 48A 16ft A2Z J1772 extension cord for about $140 and modified the input end to fit the FCSP CCS1 plug.

Used my WEN multi-tool and a hack saw. Didn't have a blade specially for plastics so I used the wood/metal blade - might have been a cleaner looking cut when magnified if I had the blade for plastics.

I tested it - plugs in securely and works just like any J1772.

I had to cut the notch all the way back to the base as you can see in the pictures to get it to fit on the FCSP CCS1 plug.

Also, I ordered the A2Z adapter for using the FCSP with an NACS vehicle for future use with any NACS vehicle I might have - like an Aptera some day I hope.

They have a 15% off Black Friday sale now code "PREBFCM" - or use the forum 10% off code

this is an example of, well, while changing the 'standard' to NACS, doesn't necessarily mean that everyone suddenly gets to 'laud' the virtues of having a single standard - many owners will continue to need Adapters for MANY years to come... there are certainly many LEAFS with ChaDEMO that still have many years of driving ahead of them, not to mention my LIGHTNING with CCS : )

Very much this.
It’s hilarious to me people think somehow the “change” does away with adapters. There are far, far more public CCS1 and J1772 charging ports in the US than any other type. By a wide margin. And this becomes even more true if you discount all of the V2 and incompatible V3 chargers by brand-T, which are always included in the counts of their chargers.

Yes, there are CHAdeMO adapters available for both NACS and CCS1 fast DC charging, but last time I checked they are rather expensive. And unless I upgrade my Leaf 24kWh battery to something bigger (there are options from Japan and China in the $7,000 to $10,000 installed cost range to get up to close to 70Kwh and a range of close to 300-400 miles) I can't justify that kind of expense.

There are CHAdeMO equipped commercial charging stations nearby, but they have been slowly eliminating CHAdeMO charging in the US I have read recently on the Leaf forums.

Nissan is discontinuing the CHAdeMO in their EVs as of this year and going with CCS1 in the US. CHAdeMO is still dominant in Japan however.

North America is transitioning to NACS (in a few years?) but the Aptera made the decision to use NACS when they go into production with their first models, hopefully by next year, they're getting closer, went public and seems more serious now than ever before...time will tell.

Given the lifespan of EVs which is apparently much long than charge port standards, adapters are going to be needed if you charge out on the road.

But since I already have a FCSP with CCS1, and a modified J1772 extension cord that fits the CCS1, and have ordered a CCS1 to NACS L2 adapter, I should be set for a while with charging my Leaf and Lightning at home.

I do also have the adapter Ford gave me, after a year or so waiting, for NACS to CCS1 fast DC charging - probably won't use it, but never can tell.

So would you say there are a plethora of adapters? Yes, I would.

Agreed, even if NACS never changes (in other words nothing replaces it), it will be many years of adapters - regardless of what connector your vehicle has. I would assume that in a few years when essentially all new vehicles have a NACS charge port, most of the non-Tesla charging networks will be putting NACS or both NACS and CCS-1 on new charger installations. Whether they remove CCS-1 cables and replace them with NACS, or just change as chargers are replacemented is anybodies guess at this point.

Personally I have the A2Z NACS to CCS-1 and also NACS to J1772 adapters. Only used the J1772 adapter once and that was just to confirm it worked, but I have used the SuperCharger adapter quite a few times.
