Is it possible to change from ATT to Verizon for the truck's Hotspot without major surgery?

I doubt this is even possible. Ford and AT&T partner. Money is exchanged. Ford wants telemetry, connected services, and OTA functionality. AT&T wants subscriptions. Only owners want carrier portability.

You're better off getting a mobile hotspot and stick it in the center console.
That was you can take it with you if/when you travel.

We always have used a phone as a hot spot in Northern Idaho where we spend time.

Good cell service is a little different then the dysfunctional SunRun system.

Since a failed download could be related to poor cellular service. Supporting the need for a reliable strong home WiFi signal to the truck.

I don't even understand why I would pay for a wifi Hotspot. Is it suppose to be better then our cell phone? I just don't get this feature.
It’s useful if you need unlimited data or drive in areas with poor coverage. I find some areas the truck will get reception where my Verizon phone will not.

Also you can’t use your hotspot and wireless CarPlay simultaneously.

Well i have unlimited data on my phone, and if I plug in by USB cord the Hotspot works. If I'm traveling I carry 2 phones anyway, company on Verizon and my personal on Tmobile. If I recall correctly when we used up the free data, I checked the cost and it was pretty ridiculous, seemed better to just get a stand alone Hotspot if really needed and could be more useful. Everyone's use case is different of course.
