True? "You can charge a Ford Lightning with a generator by using its built-in Pro Power Onboard outlets (2.4kW or 9.6kW)"

So.... Yes, you can charge a Lightning with Pro Power Onboard from any other F150 if you stay within the current limit of 240v/30a for 9600 watt PPOB and 120v/13a for 2400 watt PPOB.

No, you cannot self-charge your Lightning by plugging it into itself. It will appear to work, but you will simply watch your SOC decline.

What about with an onboard generator while driving?

I put a 10k generator(runs on propane)in the back of my truck when towing just in case I can't quite make it. to the next charging station , It definitely helps range anxiety, and will help me not to be so conservative from station to station eliminating a stop or two.I haven't had a chance to try it yet but once a year we tow a 4500lb camping trailer from Menifee to Lake Mead/ Vegas (280 mi ) my trailer range is around 130 - 150 mi . I SURE would be interested in that set up that fakes the truck out and will let me charge while driving ,using the pro power on board outlets , If you ask me I think Ford should have just added a generator charging port in the bed for the next new lightnings instead of a built in generator, that 95% of the time I don't need. And in California you'll probably have to smog test it every two years since it's built in the truck. Thanks Ford

It is suggesting that you could backfeed power from a generator through the pro power outlets to charge the truck?!

AI got really confused.
Yes indeed - never trust AI!!!

And, like how would one do that anyway, with a so-called 'suicide cord?

What could go wrong!?

Would it blow up your DC-AC inverter in the truck?

Hopefully the PPOB circuit breakers would disconnect it immediately before any damage was done, but could we count on that I wonder?

I hope nobody is fool enough to try that!!!

Making sure I understand... you want to charge the HVB through the outlets in the bed? If you really do try that, promise you report back. With pictures.

(Seriously, NO! NO! NO!)

Wouldn't that be nice if you had a second charging port in the bed for generators

OK I get it .....I was just hoping some Einstein had a way or could find away to rig the on board to reverse direction for charging after all it is connected to the HVB , I know just enough to be dangerous so I guess that idea is out the window I'll just pull over and take a break to charge if I see I'm not going to make it ,it won't be much ,but thanks for making me laugh even at my expense you guys are funny
