2024 F-150 Lightning Platinum
I own a 2024 F-150 Lightning Platinum and have been overall happy with the truck, but I’m starting to seriously consider moving back to a Tesla Model X. Took delivery in January and MSRP was 91k. Includes power running boards, BlueCruise (3-year plan), mobile charger, spray-in bedliner, and I also added the OEM hard tonneau cover.

Online instant trade-in estimates seem to be landing in the mid-50k range, which feels low, but I’m trying to set realistic expectations.

Worth calling out that I fully understand there would be a significant depreciation hit, and I’ve already made peace with that.

Can't blame you for wanting to switch back. I miss Tesla's software. I'd still prefer a Cybertruck, but the price is too high and it "sticks out" a little too much for my tastes.

I have the same truck. A 2024 Platinum with a MSRP of $91,735.

I leased it with 0% interest, no money down and all kinds of incentives that totalled $21,615 and additional X-Plan discount of $3,550. So the Cap cost was $66,450 after all said and done.

According to KBB, the trade in value today is $56k and private sale is $60k with standard options in GOOD condition.

My lease residual after 39 months is $49k. If it is worth more that $49k when lease is over I intend to buy it. I don't think it will be worth $49k 2-1/2 years from now.

As a former car dealer that sounds low . I was just offered a wholesale price 46,000 this morning for my 2022 platinum with 25k.

I own both these cars. They both have their merits, but the F150 feels so much better built.

I’ve been fortunate to have previously owned some other nice vehicles (eg Porsche Cayenne, Audi TTS, Jeep Gladiator, Land Rover). The Lightning is honestly my all-time favorite, with the possible exception of my MK1 Audi TT.

I guess it still comes down to individual preference, but having owned 3 Teslas in the past, I just miss a lot about the software/technology. Ford's implementation is slow and clunky. That said, there are other parts of the Lightning that are absolutely better than the Tesla, but I guess for me the software experience trumps the areas where the Lightning is better.

I agree with your plan. I did the same with a 24 Flash, got a super good lease deal Xmas last year. Once lease is up, we'll see what the numbers say. However I am pretty sure I will turn it back in. I even thought about putting an Air Tag in it so I can find what car lot has it and pick it up at a cheaper price!!!

I'd get one in a heartbeat if it didn't look so goofy. The wife says if I show up with one, I'd have to park it down the street...

ya ig that about software (very similar to iOS/Android preferences) - i was just curious if there's something specific in SW implementation that is super useful day-to-day.

i mostly just use carplay and don't think much about the SW, but i always hear about "Tesla SW" so I'm trying to imagine the world i'm missing

You can make fart noises from every seat in the car and you can make the car fart instead of honking. Sounds stupid but very fun to play with on the way to lunch with some coworkers, haha.

I’m all seriousness though, the UI is way smoother and responsive, but again it can make fart noises.
