So how many of you have a FitCamX that has died? Mine just stopped working, not exactly sure when. But I try to check it with my phone every week or two. And as also reported in this thread, it would lose date and time often. It’s been dead for a bit now and I’ve been contemplating ordering a replacement since I already have the wire run for the rear camera and it be a quick swap out. But now I’m contemplating that WolfBox one, maybe a Viofo.

There seems to be rumors that Ford could enable camera recording via software in the near future. Also a companion rumor that it would be tied to a subscription like BlueCruise and connectivity. Not going to hold my breath for that to happen, we all know the speed the software gets new features.
I had mine fail and contacted FitCamX for assistance. They replaced it with a new and while installing it I was to determine the failure was in the power cable that plugs into the mirror fitting.

So now I have a backup camera and could probably repair the power cable and have two working cameras.

Only have one F150 though. 😊

Well the Fitcamx dashcam does come in handy and was almost used to record things right up until the collision, thankfully there was enough time and room to evade the idiot. I overdubbed with some stock youtube audio as there definitely a little NSFW from my wife and me.

I see there are a couple of options available from Ford rewards- dashcam w rear facing bundle (sku: VHL3z19g490k) and the 4k ultra HD dashcam (VNL3Z19G490D); has anyone had these installed? Thoughts/do they hold up against other options on Amazon etc?
Also are they something I could install myself?
I got VNL3Z19G490D from Ford. . While the image quality is okay, I feel I heavily overpaid for it. The local Dealer charged 150 for installation. While it works pretty well, sometimes, when I drive somewhere longer than one hour, I get "Parking recorded started" while driving. The software is a pain. Most of the time, I have to take out the SD card, and then I have to use Thinkware Dashcam PC Viewer.

FitCam!

I installed the 4K front cam with 1080 rear cam. it was pretty easy to route the wire for the rear cam under the headliner and along the driver side roof line. I installed the rear cam on the centermost edge of the window pane on the driver side. This allows the sliding window to open/close without needing to hang a bunch of slack on the cam wire (i.e. its fixed position).

Once installed you can just leave the truck on and lock the doors when running around town and it's effectively sentry mode. Also keeps the truck cool during the summer months.

I have the Vantrue E2 front and rear set up. Very easy to mount and route the wires. There's a kit to hardwire and tap into your fusebox for sentry mode as well. Another is a screw-on filter to get rid of glare. Video quality is great, easy to access via SD Card or Wifi.
