Found this in my glovebox under the manual after getting my new truck home from the dealer.

I need some education about its purpose, is it a replacement or a spare, etc? Any help would be appreciated……

I think those are needed if you remove the tailgate. Someone else will probably know for sure.

If you remove the tailgate to install a tailgate net (or just leave the tailgate wide-open), that's a cap that you install on the wiring connector to protect it.

I knew somebody was going to call me out on that after I sent this post….. Yep, missed it! I’ve been poring all over the manual all day, and for some reason my head was thinking “towing” related… the responses popped the embolism in my brain. My apologies …..and, to answer my own question……
