EA/NACS charging questions

So obviously we know how it works, either we just plug in and it "just works" or we need to start charging manually (app or locally). However I am interested in how it would "just work". I heard a very brief snip-it on one of the most recent munro and associates videos thats it seems to be based on certificates, which could make sense. However I want to dive more into this, and understand it more.

Anyone have more information about this?

Google ISO 15118. Kyle discusses this in his "Rivian Gains Access to Supercharger" video. Start watching around the 4 minute mark. Apparently Tesla pushed out an update that the V3 chargers do the certificate exchange with Tesla vehicles now (in addition to Ford and Rivian). Note Kyle pronounces it "ISO fifteen eleven eight".
