Extending reservation-an odd question

Wondering if anyone knows whether, once you extend your reservation, can you then switch trim levels at a later date or are you locked in at that point? For instance if I order an XLT that is currently unavailable could I later move to a Lariat or a Pro? I know it sounds wishy-washy but I'm trying to look at options.

I think it is safe to say you are either ordering OR extending. You are not doing both. If you are selecting to extend your reservation because the XLT is not available, you can choose anything that is still available when you are actually invited to order again in the future.

Ok, that's what I also assumed. I'm going to wait and see how things shake out for the first owners. The design looks great and the performance is hard to argue but the Lightning is untested so I'd rather see some real-world feedback when folks start driving these new trucks, then order.

I would say if you extended the order because the trim you originally wanted was unavailable and it is your turn in the future before those who had an opportunity, then Ford should charge you a hefty fee. Maybe $15k-$20k?

Reservations are not by configuration, so extending one would also not be.
