Not trying to start a political debate but this doesn’t bode well for the future of the lightning. While I realize that not everyone buys an EV for environmentally conscious reasons, you can’t deny it’s an important bonus. I feel an aggressive policy to encourage the big three to pursue EVs in a more timely manner is a great thing. Was Biden’s policy too aggressive? I don’t know, but having no policy is foolish as other countries around us work to perfect the technology leaving us to catch up or buy from them.

I've no idea what Farley actually thinks or wants as it relates to this, but for an event like this one he's basically damned if he did show up and damned if he didn't because it's going to upset someone no matter what he did.

To the wider point, I think you are right.

The big 3 are not just interested in US Sales, therefore theyre gonna continue with EV development and progress the technology. If the US wants to be the leader in ICE x 2 then consumers will show them how they feel. The EV world is growing massively and the benefits drastically outweigh the cons. We may never get small d!ck Big Truck guy to buy in, but its going to happen.

The NY Times quotes Farley at the meeting as follows:
At the White House event, Jim Farley, the chief executive of Ford Motor Co., pointed out that his company was second in EV sales. “We can make real progress on carbon emissions and energy efficiency while still giving customers choice and affordability,” he said.

Ford is too deep in this to give up now, that much is certain.

We don't need EV subsidies any longer.

We just need fossil fuel subsidies in all forms to go away, and to tax FF enough to make them accountable for their true environmental, health, and other damages.

The choice is a no brainer when all the costs are correctly counted for.
