Avoid the Bronco debacle and simply send out something like this:

Congratulations,
Your timestamp is among of the first 15,000 reservations. When we open the order board later this fall, which model are you inclined to order?
  1. Pro w/SR battery
  2. XLT w/SR battery
  3. XLT w/ER battery
  4. Lariat w/SR battery
  5. Lariat w/ER battery
  6. Platinum w/SR battery
  7. Platinum with ER battery

Thank you,

Ford

A simple poll like this tells Ford how many of next year's orders fall into each trim level AND it tells Ford how many of each battery pack option they need to build. Let's go Ford. Don't get caught flat footed again!

They probably need to send it to the first 30k people cause a good percentage won't convert to orders but ya.

I don't think they'll do anything like this till they have finalized pricing and options/ packages because I may think I want the lariat till I realize the price when I start adding ER battery and towing packages and everything.

Once they’re ready to take orders, they will go down the list.

Bronco launch has been a mess, but considering the state of the world over the past 18 months, I think things are at least on the right track. Webasto failing on the MIC tops is a Greek Tragedy of epic proportions. Ford really should have come down harder on them a lot sooner. And I think they would have if not for the pandemic and parts/ labor shortages.

I canceled my reservation today. The more i heard about lighting the less interested i became. I probably was honestly excited about it for about a week. Still on with the plan for 2022 powerboost though.

I’ll likely revisit electric trucks in about 5 years, see what the playing field is then. Good luck to all the early adapters!

People like you who say what you say in your last line will continually say "I'll revisit EVs later", and never actually buy one.

An unfair assessment, especially considering Poalpo had actually placed an order. But, okay.

Lets be real here, there isn’t a single EV truck out right now that one can actually go out and buy, Ford or others. And all this reservations business…most folks will likely not see their EV Ford truck build in the next 2-3 years at a pace of 15k trucks a year production to start with. So to accuse someone of not committing to getting an EV truck is just silly.

That's not entirely true. I traded in an EV to go back to an ICE, why? Mainly because EV's will be the only available powertrain within the next decade. EV's still have a long way to be refined. As with the previous poster I am also starting to have my doubts on the Lightning but mainly because my 2.7 EB XLT is outstanding......those gas prices though

Why not send that email? Because Ford hasn’t announced how many trucks they are building in 2022.

The first generation of the Lightning is not for everyone, but why quit a $100 refundable reservation?

It's not me, but why keep it if you have decided you don't want it? I don't see any reason to hold onto the reservation if you have no intention of placing an order.

for $100, I don't see the compelling reason to get the $100 back for a deal that's two or three years away.
maybe it becomes possible to just drive one off the lot, but maybe the delays continue and in two years time, who knows what they want, but the option to buy a Lightning with a reservation made back in 2021 is nice card to have up the sleeve.
