To be fair to the truck in my circumstance, I do have an iphone 11 pro which has run the beta iOS since I bought it, there's a lot of diagnostic code being run in the background which slows it down. I don't know if it's possible on newer iphones but also it doesn't allow me to both use the in truck wifi and wireless carplay either, another reason I disabled wireless projection.

The only wireless CarPlay issue we have is what I presume are external interference-driven disconnects when driving past certain spots, and we get them at these places in all our cars.

With that said, my own experience is that there's no point trying to troubleshoot CarPlay. Just delete the phone on the truck, delete the truck on the phone, and re-pair.

I had the same issues the OP posted - random no-connect issue which shutting down the truck and restarting allowed a reconnect.

What seems to have fixed the problem is one of the latest OTA software update(s) below.
To see what you have, you can login to Ford and see your SW update history here - must sign in, VIN search isn't enough: https://www.ford.com/support/software-update-release-notes-history/

My Latest Updates that fixed my Apple CarPlay connect issues:
TCU-25.2.8.5,
ECG2-25.2.8.5,
and/or SYNC-25.2.4.9

Thank you for posting this. How are you seeing what the current software is? Mine just says SYNC 4 and that "
It’s been more than 90 days since your vehicle was updated.
The Software Update History & Release Notes currently only provides a report for the last 90 days of enhancements to your vehicle, so make sure to check back to see how your vehicle is improving over time."

I scrolled through the settings and confirmed the following:

SYNC 4 Software Version: 25094_PRODUCT
Revision: 1779
Bluecruise Map Version: MUST-14H394-ABA

Apple iOS: iOs:26.2

I also checked my bluetooth when the CarPlay wouldn't connect and noticed the following on the bluetooth settings (this is when PAAK is working, as usual, and CarPlay was not).

57888 F-150 - Connected
Ford F-1250 Lightning - Not Connected

Here is what worked for me when I started to get flaky connectivity.

It was after an IOS update, so maybe related but in any case, make you are updated to the most recent version of OS which on mine (16 Pro MAX) is 26.3.

Also make sure all of your apps are updated. Seems that some apps don't seem to automatically update. Not sure why. In any case, go to apps, click on your profile and scroll down to updates.

Then I went into Settings/Bluetooth and removed the F150 devices, by 'forgetting' vs just remove. I think there are two if I recall. Should remove from CarPlay automatically but check just in case.

Power down the phone.
Power up after a minute.

Add the truck back in via the the CarPlay option in Settings.

That seemed to clear up the lag I was encountering. I know there was a BT code update somewhere along the way to 26.3 and as least in my case I think there was old code that was still in play.

Just a theory.
Connects now ~10 seconds after I power on the truck, wirelessly.
