So I’ve had several F-150s over the years. The newer trucks with wireless CarPlay (and I’m assuming this is the issue) seem to disconnect for a few seconds then the music starts up again. It’s sporadic and may do this once in awhile or every 10-20 minutes. Tried resetting (soft booting) the head unit and rebooting the phone to no avail. My Tremor and Raptor both had this issue and apparently has carried over to the Lightning.

Has anyone else dealt with this or know a fix! Again, I am assuming it’s a CarPlay issue but I really don’t know.

Thanks guys.

Many, many posts on this topic.

This is the thread that may cover your needs, or at least an attempt by Ford to update all modules to remedy the situation.

Personally, I only usb connect CarPlay.

This post (in that thread) states the TSB # was changed to a newer one.
Beings that I’ve had the truck only two weeks, I had hoped this was an issue that had already been corrected. Good luck getting my dealer to address it. Lazy and absolutely worthless.

Understood.

You can pay-to-play by doing your own FDRS updates (and avoiding dealers). Checkout the FDRS and FORScan threads if you haven't.

FDRS: need a beefy 12v power supply and laptop and FDRS subscription fees (as little as $50 bucks for a 2-day license). FDRS updates the Ford OEM software/modules.

FORScan: free 60-day licenses and need a laptop and OBD2 adapter. This is for modifying settings and enabling/disabling features in the truck (nothing to do with Ford themselves).

It’s been a real common problem. Often plugging in the USB cable will solve it, but if not, last ditch effort is just to turn off the truck open and close the door and then for some reason it’ll usually work again.

My Tremor and Raptor both did this but not to the extent the of my Lightning. What’s odd is I’ve only had the truck a month and this wasn’t an issue until I got the May 19th OTA. That seems to be when it started and the strange thing is that it’s getting progressively worse.

Headed to the dealer today to see if there’s something they can do. Not only does the music temporarily disconnect but every phone I make or receive is fuzzy and static. Really bizarre.

Thanks for the response.

So for an update, of anyone’s interested:

Took the truck to the dealer and explained the situation. They found a trouble code that showed the module controlling the stereo amp out of whack and he said that it could possible affect the fuzzy or static phone calls as well as the music dropping for a few seconds. So they’re gonna order a new part and start with that to see if it corrects the problem.
