While a balky station is rare, I’ve had an EA and a Tesla station be unresponsive so I always have a backup mapped. I rarely go below 20% and stay right in the 20-80 percent sweet spot And rarely charge above that unless conditions warrant (freezing weather). Save about 30+ minutes per station, sometimes more.

We are traveling from Akron Ohio, to Hilton Head SC next week. I did an A I chat with Google to map out several scenarios. Probably we use all Tesla, and sign up for their monthly plan. Should save us $100 or so on the trip. AI also found a park behind our hotel at our stop in Columbia. If we can get free juice there overnight, that will be a nice bonus.

Or just use the V4 or EA chargers instead on 501 between Conway and Myrtle Beach?
ABRP recommends the western route which is shorter and more scenic. Despite what ABRP recommends for charging levels at each stop. Charging to 80% is almost always optimal because that’s where fast charging ends and you have the most flexibility in choosing where you stop next.

ABRP has settings, balancing number of stops with overall time of trip. "Optimal" is exactly that, optimal. Charging to 80% each stop is not. The charging curve shows that.

What ABRP fails to account for, in my opinion, is the true time it takes to depart the highway, reach the charger, and start the session. So, if ABRP says 74%, 80% may seem like it is better, and in fact may be. But if it says 59%, then charging to 80% is not optimal.

That said, every trip is different. Dead of winter, driving through North Dakota or Montana, I am charging to 80%, sometimes more, at each stop. But in the summer, no.

Thanks everyone for your input. I am relatively new to this and only charge at home most of the time. This has made me feel alot more comfortable already. I have one more question about the dongle. I assume that plugs into main plug under steering wheel. Does this mess with the warranty at all? I only have 6k on this truck.

Absolutely not. It is safe to use. It does draw a little power, so I unplug mine when it’s not in use.
