Does anyone know if Ford dumped the “breadcrumbs” feature on the new trucks? I had it on my 2022 Tremor but can’t seem to locate a setting to toggle it on with the new Lightning.

Thank you!

I dont believe so. THe ICE trucks use a different Navigation application. They use Telenav. Lightnings use Garmin. I havent seen the bread crumbs. I always had to turn them off because they are on by default

Oh ok. People love em or hate em. I found the breadcrumbs super handy but I guess I guess I’ll learn to live without em. Thanks!

I’m not 100% but I believe they aren’t in the Garmin nav app

Interesting tidbit of information about the ICE and Lighting using different Nav systems at the heart. Any reason you know why? Integration of chargers?

Ford already has enough SW issues to keep up with, surprising they have work to integrate two different routing engines.

Speaking of routing - are the Lightning's getting map updates? Any way to track them?

I just noticed the infotainment maps is displaying differently. The nav is displaying buildings and textured water in my local big city. I don't recall that being there before. Is that new?

THe only way to keep up with Map updates is noticing a road that is now there that wasnt before. I had a Church I used to pass by daily and it wasnt on my nav and then it was. I checked my trucks server data nad the map files had updated. I have only had or seen one single map update since 21. Some of the 21s never got it. When i sayupdate I mean an update from the maps the truck shipped with.

The maps do update from year to year and as the production moves along in a year. So a 22 early build will have a different map set than a late build 22

My 24 has newer map files than the 23 and the 25 has newer maps again. I can install the newer maps if I wanted to. I did install them on a apim I have and didnt notice anything new.

The ICE trucks and Telenav vehicles also had an overlay that would show differently than the installed maps did. So they seem to have an updated map that shows I would notice a lack of detail sometimes at start up. Would notice roads missing that were normally there. I restarted the APIM and then they would display.

THe garmin maps are the one thing I dislike. The Telenav maps are much clearer and better in my opinion. I have debated about installing the telenav maps on my apim but I dont know if they will orient to the 15"screen or not. I havent tried.

Also the Rest of the World maps are Garmin. EU, England, Middle East, Australia. there are a few ice vehicles that use garmin maps In North America.

THe Nav application itself does update typically with every software update. So you may notice a change in the maps and how they display or how the search looks.

Anyways I dont know the reason Ford has the different versions. I dont have a lightning display for my bench. Maybe Ill get them to order me one so I can test the Telenav maps on the 15"

If you received an APIM update recently that is absolutely possible. The NAv application itself is apart of the software package. They typically change in updates. Not all updates but most major updates.

On the 12" Lightning there are options to change the Maps and how they look. THere is a detail option I believe.. there are three options

Classic
Detailed and one other.. It is on the 12" not the 15. I wish it was because the one looks closest to the Telenav. I cant remember which one but I liked it.

Yes. This has caused an issue for people before. I had a guy come to me about his maps stopped working after an OTA> the Garmin nav application and the telenav application on the server for whatever reason. The next OTA installed both of the MAP apps and blanked his nav out. So I had to help him and make a file removal for the Garmin app. He removed it and it worked again. Then the very next OTA came and reinstalled the garmin apps again.

I made the removal again and made him get a network scan done in FDRS to report the new data so it wouldnt happen again.

Thankfully I was able to fix it but had I not been able to he would have never had working maps again. Ford would have never figured it out. Once something is on the server such as bad AS build or wrong files it will never fix itself. It will reinstall the bad data over and over again.
