I was supposed to end at charger with 2%, pushing it i know. It got low because I sped up for a bit. At 2% it rapidly dropped to 0 and died. No real loss of power first. My other evs had about 10 to 15 miles in reserve, appearantly this has none. Had I known I could have stopped earlier. It probably won't ever happen again but this is an issue for me.

This has been reported multiple times with the lightning. Going below 5% can be a gamble especially if you've been fast charging consistently with no time for the battery to settle. Should be noted that the same truck was used both times out of spec ran out

Out of Spec- 70mph range test- expected behavior-

Out of Spec- Lightning EA v Tesla Race to Florida-

Out of Spec- I-10 Cross Country truck race-

@branden's experience-

You won't find anything in the manual that says you have reserve capacity. Ending at a charger with 2% is simply foolish. Luckily you have free towing to the nearest charger. Bet you didn't know or utilize that...

There is no reason you shouldn‘t be able to arrive to a charger at 2%
That's too logical for Ford. It's amazing they still haven't figured it out. Do you have a recording of the car scanner screen when it crapped out? Curious what the min voltage, etc was showing a bit before it crapped out. The lowest I've gotten was 5% on the IPC with Car Scanner showing 8.85% actual, 5.5% displayed, and 320V total with 3.32V min.

Literally, YMMV. The power available that low into the SoC is dependent upon a lot of factors -- including environmental factors. I avoid running that low, because charging performance down at the end of SoC is quite slow, as it is for nearly every EV.

There is a setting in the truck menu to give you an alert when your range gets low and it's in distance, not soc.

You should always leave yourself a buffer as you never know what kind of detouring you might have to do on a drive.

If you find yourself chewing through electrons too quickly, slow down to extend your range. The difference between 100km/h and 120km/h is astounding. Also, headwinds will knock it back even more.

I disagree. There are too many variables to cut it that close and you wouldn't think about it in an ICE either. The reserve comes on when you hit your warning setpoint at about 30 or 50 miles when everything turns yellow and you choose to push through that into the danger zone.

There is EVERY reason not to do this. It's really hard on your battery degradation too.

Looks like both Lucids had their BMS get out of whack too on the eastern edge race. Luckily they were both stopped but going from 8% to dead while sitting a short time is crazy.

Yes I got the free towing. A shame actually I was 2 lights from the charging station. No worries won't happen again
