What is everyone seeing for insurance? I just got quoted 2500/year which seams very high. By contrast my outgoing Model Y was only 1300/year with the same coverage.

I'm doing 2 million liability with 2500 deductable.

I'm $1k/yr but $10k deductible because the value is over $100k. Thinking about looking around a bit more.

I had to contact my insurance company the other day for another purpose and thought that since we now have the VIN for our MY2023 Lightning Lariat, I would see if they could give me a quote.

They were and it came in at about $1350 per year for $1 million liability and $500 deductible on collision and comprehensive - the same coverage level we have for our 2017 Focus Electric which is $1290 per year. I'm assuming the multi-vehicle discount is included in this. We're located in York Region.

This is with The Personal under a group offer with my employer. We moved to them several employer's ago and stayed because they still gave the group rates when I moved to another employer in between that didn't have a group thing with them. Every year or two we've shopped around but have found nobody has been able to come close.

We probably should consider raising the liability to $2M and the deductible to $1000.

UPDATE: We received the Lightning on May 25. Our insurance policy runs from May 1 to April 30, so just over 11 months of coverage was added to the final 11 payments. With just a 2017 Focus Electric, the insurance was costing us exactly $100 per month for $1M liability and a $500 deductible on collision. With the Lightning added, liability changed to $2M, and deductible changed to $1000, the new monthly cost is $253.10 combined.

The policy has accident forgiveness and replacement coverage for the Lightning (the FFE is now over five years old, so it doesn't qualify).

By the way, the increase of the liability coverage and increase of the collision deductible resulted in a $3 decrease in our monthly premium.

Geez insurance is cheap in Ontario. Seems about double in BC (Bring Cash). I think I'm close to $2K/yr with $2M liability & $1K collision deductible. I'm at maximum discount with 20+ yrs no accident claims so it can't get cheaper.
