Hello friends!

I have seen many advertisements about this function in Ford, but yesterday I saw a Ford Lightning crash into a minivan stopped at a traffic light from behind.
This made me think, I decided to take 2 huge cardboard boxes from the garage, put them on the street and decided to check what would happen if I approached them while driving down the street (in a straight line). The result surprised me very much - about 10 meters before these boxes, an alarm appeared with a warning about the risk of collision, but NOTHING else, no attempts to reduce speed (I was moving 51 km / h) and certainly no attempts at emergency braking, including after a collision with boxes.

After that, I also checked the automatic braking function when reversing - also NOTHING except an alarm with a warning about the possibility of a collision.

Tell me, how are you with this?
Does anyone know anything about these systems?

Thanks ;)

I believe you can toggle the auto brake feature on and off. Check your settings. If it’s off, the truck will still warn you. I’m pretty sure mine is off because we have a jeep and i absolutely hate that feature. It’s way too sensitive when you’re maneuvering the vehicle in parking spots. Maybe the ford feature is better but I’ve always had it off.

Oh, looks like it’s reverse brake assist and cross traffic brake assist. Not sure about when just travel forward.

I have had the reverse braking function engage a couple of times. I have not had the front collision ever engage. But I’m pretty sure it only operates at low speed. 51 KM/H might be too fast.

I've had reverse emergency brake twice. First time, it braked so hard that I thought I had backed into something. Got, out to look, and nope. I was close to another car (I knew it was there), but no evidence on either vehicle that contact had been made.

I definitely need to check mine too. It's never engaged even when I know a few times it should have!

It HAS warned me though! Just not applied brakes even when someone right in front of me slammed on their brakes.

I've had mine both warn me on the dash, and also (not that often, but definitely several times) engage the brakes.

My flash has engaged multiple times when in reverse and pulling out of the driveway or parking with garbage cans on the street. It will definitely stop you in it's path.

Forward has warned me on winding streets. But has never engaged. It picks up parked cars that are in front, but doesn't know the street is winding and turns..

Need to check my settings when I leave this morning.
