Can anyone with access to diagrams or actual experience tell me how to pull out the Pro Trailer knob?

In my 2021 F150 I fabricated a thin bracket and used that space to flat mount a MagSafe iPhone charger with the wire concealed. I wish to reproduce this setup in my ‘25 Lightning.

I took several things apart and from the layering of the fasteners it looks like even the screen might have to come off to get to the release clips. Not tempting.

I haven’t resorted to brute force yet. 🫤

Anyone have experience pulling apart that section of the dash? My truck has less than 500miles I’m gonna try not to break too many things on it yet.

According to the Ford wsm, the center stack has to come out. That said, Ford's manuals aren't known for complete accuracy and there may be short cuts.

It’s the conclusion I had come to after I pulled out all the BlueCruise gear and everything I could get my hands and sockets set on…

it’s amazing the whole screen is bolted “on top” of everything else. I wonder why they don’t make these things less interdependent, it’s not like they’re saving clips or avoiding rattles… sigh.

They're designed to be installed fast, not so much for taking apart. It's always been this way. For over 40 years working on these things I've used every cuss word I could think of for engineers.

I thought "Engineer" was the ultimate cuss word Technicians used for us. 😂

I guess they might have figured the screen would be likely to need replacement / servicing a lot more than a driver’s vent so they keeping it on top makes swapping units easier for technicians.

Would you say it’s a 15 minute job to get to that knob? Or is it Pandora’s box… I’ve swapped motors and required entire cars and boats; but I don’t want to end up with a ton of rattles and crap happening to my new truck.

Nope it's exactly how I stated. They are designed to be assembled as fast as possible. The assembly line moves at a certain speed designed for making $$$ and a sprinkle of ergonomics for the assemblers.

Couldn't tell you how long it takes to do the job never done one, I only have the wsm on how to.

Ford isn't worried how long it takes to repair so to speak, they're main concern is how long it takes to get it out the door and on the sales floor.
