Feb 2024 I bought a buyback (e.g., lemon title) 2022 Lightning Platinum from Capitol Ford in Charlotte, NC. I bought it sight unseen (other than internet pics) up in northern Virginia. I have zero regrets. I love the truck. All the issues I've had with it are minor and were fixed under warranty.
Did you get an extended warranty? And from where? Thank you!!!

I just bought an extended range 2023 Lariat Buyback from Capital Ford this week. I live in Charlotte so it was easy for me to test drive the vehicle. I was impressed with the dealership and the truck blew me away. This is my fourth electric car, first truck, and first Buyback. My Lightning has 16,000 miles on it. I feel like I got an $80K+ truck for almost half price.

The "lemon" faults seemed minor to me: windows that wouldn't fold etc. But I do worry about all the electric components. Some things are bound to fail, no? I declined the extended warranty ($4,100) but am having some second thoughts. How many owners get the extended warranty? Any thoughts?

I did end up buying this vehicle, I should have it maybe this weekend or early next week, it’s being shipped to me. After searching for about 2 weeks time I could not find a better deal than this. I’m in south Florida so the local market is priced on the higher end of priced. This truck I’m getting for $35k is probably $42-$45k in south Florida even with the buyback title brand. The extended range and 8k miles along with the 312a package is nice.

I think you can add an extended warranty at any time during the first 3 years or 36000 miles from the vehicle's in service date.

I'm inclined to go for the extended warranty unless someone here can talk me out of it. I realize it's a personal decision but the key variable for me is how likely failures are to occur and I think on such a complex vehicle the probabilities are high.

After reading about all the issues owners had with the 2022 Lightnings on the forums, the fires at the plant parking lot, and the reliability issues raised by various quality rating companies, I bought an extended warranty on my 2023 Pro, although with luck I will never need it. The discount the dealership had along with the upfront $7500 tax credit made the truck even with the cost of an extended warranty fit my 'value' internal calculation.

I usually do not buy extended warranties or service contracts, but sometimes I will if the price is right and the risk seems higher than normal.

It has paid off in some cases, like with the GE Hybrid electric water heater I bought from Sears with a 5 year service contract, they repaired and then replaced the first two within the first year and 1/2 at no charge to me. The water heater had paid for itself within the first year with a greatly reduced electric bill even with the added cost of the service contract.

So if it is in your budget, trust your inclination. It's insurance against the unpredictable Laws of Murphy.

Edit: the vehicles title is branded buyback OEM

Go easy on me, I'm new here and considering joining the F150 lightning family. I had originally wanted one back in 2022 when they were first released, I just couldn't come up with the coin to pay for what dealers were asking. Fast forward to today and I found a 2023 Ford Lightning F150 XLT for $35k with 9k miles. It has the dual emotor-extnd range battery, and package 312A. Truck looks very clean from the photos shared and the dealer sent me the repair report from the ford dealers who worked on this truck. I'd be buying this car over the internet and having it shipped to me due to location so I cannot test drive it, but the dealer has said everything has been repaired. Reason it was bought back 'driver states screen goes black'. The truck has been fixed I'm being told and was reacquired thru fords buyback program, and I called ford to verify the factory warranty would remain, which it will, so it still has bumper-to-bumper till Jan 2026 or 36k miles, and the battery/ev components till 2032, along with the other remaining factory warranties. I do not drive a ton of miles so I expect the warranty to be in place till the dates I stated above.

My big question, and uneasiness of it is all - would you more experienced F150 lightning owners consider this truck? It is priced incredibly well compared to the online market I've shopped over the last 2 weeks.

Appreciate any insight, thank you all.

Edit again: I could spend another $2,500 for a bumper to bumper extended warranty from ford till 2031 / 60k miles. (I drive about 6-7k miles a year tops, so for the next 6 years, I figure to add another 40k miles on top of the already 9k miles).

Edit again again:
If anyone can help shed light on this carfax and warranty report - I have a question before i sign the papers for this truck this afternoon. I'm curious if this car was in an accident and was never reported to carfax, or am I overthinking? I do see it was brought in for repair 5/13/2024 and then a rental provided.

The carfax shows 7/16/2024 - Service Facility - Vehicle reconditioned. Thats all it says, it does not say where, etc. The warranty report from the dealer (uploaded on main thread) shows the following before and after that date:

3038 miles - 5/13/2024 - customer stated that dash will black and come back up
3038 miles - 5/13/2024 - rental assistance
6548 miles - 10/08/2024 - Matthews Currie Ford - customer comments: Ford assistance and the tech comments P11 - Ford Assistance with Tail Lamp Replacement
6548 miles - 10/08/2024 - Matthews Currie Ford - customer comments: Ford assistance and the tech comments P11 - Assistance with replacement of door trim panel, weather stripping and driver air bag

6549 miles - 10/28/2024 - Matthews Currie Ford - customer comments: 24p24 perform recall and the tech comments Performed 24P24 recall. Performed FHCM software update.
Test drive, no test drive, lemon, not lemon.

I bought mine new and it’s been in shop for “Powertrain” issues four times.

Faith or no faith, you decide.

Buy new with employee pricing or go with your find.
