This is just untrue. There has been a lot written about the Generac 6853 because it works. It can't switch your whole home but the truck can't power your whole home so it doesn't really matter.

I'm sympathetic to people who want a cheaper solution but then I read things like this...

...and realize why the transfer switch is such a good idea.
Keep it in context and look at what the poster is looking for. He already has a transfer switch. I interpret it as he wants a big switch to flip to get from truck to generator and back - which is the input. That seems as though he would need to switch all 4 wires - and that is what we are missing for the lockout and breaker flip - get the neutral and the ground along with both hots..

I even mention the Generac panel you refer to. That is the way you go but he also has a setup for a generator.

There are reasonable ways to set up a whole panel interlock to work with a Lightning and there's leaving it to future generations to figure it out. I don't have sympathy for the latter.

I think making a short generator cable with the ground not connected is the best (and most convenient) solution for my situation. I understand the risks associated with this solution.

I'll keep the short cable without the ground in my Frunk so it can't be used when using the gas generator to power the house.
I purchased a short 10 AWG extension cord to connect to my existing generator extension cord and disconnected the ground on a plug of the new cable.

Tested the new setup by plugging the Lightning's Pro Power to the house receptacle and threw the switches on the transfer switch. All six circuits were powered by the Lightning without tripping anything.

Success!

Thanks for the advice.
