Still sorting out the insurance, but we purchased a replacement yesterday.
Sadly, it’ll cost us a little more every month but we just finished paying off our Bolt EV so it’s less of a concern.

Good news: Ford finance is offering 2.9% on loans, which is only 0.2% more than we were paying on Adira. Combined with discounts and incentives, we’re financing 18k less than we did last time ;)

Bad news: like all ‘23s it doesn’t have the camera washer jet, advanced security package or scales… or that lovely blue :(

I’ll share photos when the truck arrives from down the road!

Nikki! I didn’t know you were in the forum! I’m so sorry this is happened to you. But very glad you were safe and not seriously injured. Looking forward to your next EV. Best wishes and good day!

Use your new truck in good health.

Where is the camera washer jet supposed to be that you mentioned?

Early ‘22s and some ‘23s with the parking package had a jet for washing the front 360 degree camera …

My truck had a May 23, 2022 blend date - approx 2 weeks after Adira Tal (according to the picture of your FMVSS certification sticker on the B pillar post) and seemingly lacks this feature (or at least I cannot find it 😢).

Thank you for clarifying.

Well, I guess it's time for an update:

Ford F-150 Lightning RIP Adira Tal: My F-150 Lightning Saved Me IMG_5689

1) Adira Tal was in fact written off. I spoke to the insurance engineering evaluation specialist yesterday and he said basically every part of Adira would have needed some work. I'd twisted the frame, the bed, the cab... and he wasn't comfortable getting the truck repaired without a battery too.

2) As a consequence, the insurance issued checks yesterday for my credit union and myself. They're in the mail, apparently.

3) I haven't broken anything, but the specialist at the hospital wants me to continue to wear a splint until I get an MRI, as she's concerned I've done some ligament damage from the steering wheel. I honestly consider myself extremely lucky with just this as my main personal injury.

4) Yesterday, I headed to my local dealer and picked up "Ortegas" - Yes, I'm a Star Trek nerd, and no, not the salsa ;) - and I'm getting her ceramic coated tomorrow at our local trusted specialist Fresh Start Detail here on the west side of Portland. I was lucky enough to get Ortegas for just over $64,000 after incentives and deals (that included an X-Plan). I'm keeping my old plates, so that saved me a few bucks.

5) I've already noticed some of the differences between Adira and Ortegas - Obviously there's no on-board scales (Ortegas is a '23) but there are also some other interesting tweaks. The rear lockable under-seat storage is different in Ortegas to Adira (the whole folding/opening mechanism has been redesigned slightly) and there's no centre console 12V outlet. The front truck also has the emergency release cover as standard, so the ones I just printed are no-longer needed!

I've already tested Pro Power and Home Integration System with success on both counts, and I've ordered the same Bed Rug that I had on Adira Tal. I'll also order a new power Tonneau cover when I have the insurance check arrive.

I'm also planning on adding the front washer jet for the front camera, as I have the Putco Ford emblem to put on (and I really do like having clean cameras and glass, even if the rest of my vehicles tend to get very dirty).

First 'truck' task? We need some more straw and animal feed this weekend, and it's planting season, so probably some manure and soil!

Glad you are seemingly well so far, no major injuries. I have to say you've traded up to the better blue !

Interesting about insurance, did they pay you for the bed rug and tonneau and those add on's? I would think you'd just pull those and move to the new truck.

No. I think the maximum was $1,000 so it wasn’t covered… But my payout was very good.

Stopped by the dealer on Sunday and looked at a recent 2023 Lariat ER and saw that the Ford badge was different from the one on my truck. My truck has a little square piece of plastic near the camera (which I always wondered about) - so I am assuming Ford uses the same concept that Volvo uses to spritz the headlights on their cars. Now if I can only figure out how to use it since I found no mention in the Owner's Manual!!

Put the front camera on and wash the windscreen - You should see a jet clean the camera too!

That is the color I got. (Similar to the Indigo Blue of my 06 Taco) Looks black, until the light hits it just the right way. & I coated my truck soon after I got it, too.

Why “Ortega” and not “Ortegas”? Just curious, not critical.

It looks like you’re in a rural area. AMB really shows the dirt and dust!

Best wishes for your continued healing.
