Looks like we were both discovering Shift was no good for us here in Maryland at the same time haha
Haha! I just submitted to AutoNation, now I just have to wait 30 minutes for an email offer or phone call..I'm hoping for an email. I have my CarMax quote which was higher than the dealer. I'm also considering private sale but the hassle of dealing with unknown people drives me nuts and there's always the risk associated with that.

Shift was best for me. Offered 25% more than any of the others. Algorithm differences. May work better, may not. I’d would check multiple. It was an easy transaction with shift though.
Same experience for me.

Everyone else (dealers, online, buying services) all offered $6K-$8K.

Shift offered $11.3K online and then said it will need to be inspected to verify.

Didn't believe it, drove in and was ready to go home if they tried to whittle down the price after inspection but nope - full price.

Even with a CEL on, full price as originally offered.

They even paid for a Lyft rideshare to take me back home!

Funds in my account within 2 days!

AutoNation called, same offer as CarMax and this is obviously before they see the truck. I have one dent in my truck and I have been honest about that so it at least can't go lower and it may go higher they said

Here's where I've been checking:
  • Carvana
  • Driveway
  • CarMax
  • JoinYAA.com
  • We Buy Any Car USA
  • InRide
  • AutoNation
  • CarGurus
  • Cars.com
  • Vroom
  • TrueCar
  • CarVio
In general the ones higher on that list have given higher offers, but the order has varied over the past months as I've been checking and tracking. Unfortunately, overall I'm looking at getting less than I would have at the end of July, but since my blend date isn't until 9/11 and I need my car until my Lightning comes in, I could not sell then.

I don't recall if it was a result of an AutoNation submission or somewhere else (KBB?), but it always results in Heritage Auto Group here in Maryland calling me. I always tell them that I'm just checking for the value of my car and not ready to sell quite yet, but they've told me that the online price has been lower than what they've been offering when you bring it in for an appraisal...so that was encouraging to hear (if true).

Oh yea, they are MileOne, we have gotten my wife's X7 from one of their dealers. I'll have to ask them as well. ALGO offered me a little more and I'm just waiting to talk to them on the phone to confirm the price. I'm not ready right now but when I find out the truck is on the way, I'm selling my current one and cashing in haha

I'll give Algo a shot, too. I'm also curious what my dealer might offer for a trade-in because I'd be happy to have the tax on the Lightning reduced a bit if they can make a competitive offer on my current car -- and to just have it all done in one transaction would be nice, too.

I had a great experience at CarMax selling my 2011 Chevy Volt. Walked into their physical store at noon, left in less than an hour with a check for a bit more than Carvana had offered online. The place was super busy, they seem to be thriving.

I don't want to sell until I have the replacement in my possession or at the dealership knowing that there was no transport damage, but I also want to have it taken care of before the purchase so that I have the money in my bank account. In Vermont you have 3 months on either side of by the purchase to get a credit of the sales tax, so I should be in a safe time window for the transaction. My blend date is tomorrow. I have a 2017 Tacoma with 10500 miles, so it should be if significant value, probably as much as I paid for it in Feb 2018. I will probably get a bunch of online quotes and then in early October check with a few local dealers. If I didn't need the truck to drag my boat home for the winter then I could go without for a few months...
