currently using the full bed rug, walls covered, shaped around cleats, etc, works well for keeping things from sliding and okay for knees. Had a drop in on a 3/4 chevy but it can cover cleats and attachment points, and now with Pro Power Onboard, openings are needed for that as well. Just the thicker bottom bed rug, which I think is available, would be my choice. But if hauling rough heavy stuff regularly, the drop in, with an optional non-slip pad would be smart. Maybe a 70% coverage temporary drop in would be a nice accessory for my bed rug when bricks are to hauled?

Just to let others know, I passed on the Winner status, as I think @3Wliners needs someone who will give their test mat a more realistic work load compared to my current Pavement Princess uses. Good luck!

I bought my truck used and it already had a spray in liner. I just bought a BedRug as one of the first additions because of how durable it is in use. I used to have a Tacoma and added a BedRug for it about 10 years ago. It handled full tons of Mulch, Topsoil, Gravel without any problem. I would just powerwash the dirt and grit off. No tears at all in the BedRug after years of abuse. I'd even use it for camping, sleeping in the bed of the Tacoma on the BedRug with a tonneau partially open in the Tetons and Yellowstone. Ever since then, I knew I needed to get another BedRug for another truck I got in the future, and this was the first investment I made when I got my F-150 Lightning a week ago.

Doing both seems insane to me unless there is some beat the snot out of the bed protection needed.

I've had all the bed products made in the past 30+ years. I went with the Weathertech Impact pad and love it. It is grippy and comfortable on the knees. I don't dump rocks in my truck so keeping the sides paint was nice and looks good to me.

This is what I NEED!

I bought my PRO in December of 22.
I thought I would just have the dealer (360 miles) away put a spray in liner for me before I picked it up. 🤦‍♂️
The shop they used put in a BULLET LINER and it is so rough that I have cardboard boxes in there in case I need to kneel on it if I am in shorts. It will literally take the skin off of you!
Plus I have these to make sure anything I haul that is soft or nice doesn't get scratched up. I really hate that liner and have thought of adding a mat or liner.
My buddy @GDN knows what a pain it is.

Bed mat on LineX Premium for me.

I plan on getting mine sprayed next month and will be adding a rubber bed liner. Seems like an easy call for hauling stuff I don't want to get scratched up and sliding around whether it is on the aluminum bed or a sprayed bedliner. Haven't got far enough along to pick a certain brand of rubber bed mat or what I'm going to get for a cover over the bed just yet. One step at a time.

So here's the conclusion:
  1. Spray-ins are great and look clean, but they’re not perfect.
  2. Stacking a drop-in on top can solve specific pain points (noise, slide, impact).
Owners shared a ton of useful experiences—we figured it’s worth a proper poll here.
And...here comes our question:
If you already have a spray-in, would you add a drop-in on top?
• Yes — extra protection/grip is worth it
• Maybe — depends on price/fit/weight
• No — spray-in is enough
• Not sure — convince me in the comments

To make this useful and fun, we are hoping you can share your opinion down below this thread, and we are select one winner giving away 2 sets of bed mat to him/her or his/her friend from this forum

Here's the rule:
• Comment your take on spray-in + drop-in (real experience or what’s holding you back).
• @Tag one forum friend who’d have an opinion.
We’ll randomly pick one comment and send two bed mats — one to the commenter and one to the tagged friend.
• Multiple thoughtful comments = better odds, but one set max per person.

House rules

Keep it friendly, respect different setups, and skip the brand bashing. Real-world experience beats hot takes.

Dropping a few use-case screenshots below to spark ideas. Your pics welcome — especially that “one load that sold me” moment. Fire away 👇
have you picked an alternate winner?

Went with a drop-in liner, and I had the Ford bed mat, so using those in combination.
