Even though you shouldn't need the tesla app, I'd have it ready just in case. One time I had trouble with Ford Pass working (kept getting a "charge station paused" message) but my butt was saved because I had set up a Tesla account and had the app on my phone. It worked as expected.Nope I don't use Tesla app. I use mainly plug and charge for Tesla stations and it works like a charm on old charging stations. I have no luck with V4s so far.
(The rest of the story: Turns out my credit card for Ford Pass had expired but the only message in Ford Pass was to plug in again. I only found out after I got an "update your payment method notice email. no message in ford pass. I didn't check email until the next day when I got home. So lesson learned is to have the tesla app available.
