If you get the Sport package, it comes with 18" wheels even with the Max Tow package.
Thanks. Yes, I learned that... I have boxed myself in from my likes and dislikes (like Sport Appearance, don't like center console/shifter). I have a nice 2021 SuperCrew Chrome Pkg. with the 18" Chrome-like PVD wheels... if they indeed fit (despite Ford's excluding them), I can swap my 2021 w/ 18" chrome wheels/$1200+ after-market Cooper Tires with the 2022's 20" wheels/tires. I'm looking to confirm fitment from independent source(s).

I cant find the answer on this one. Ill keep looking. I went with the 20's because of personal preference, so I never even noticed the issue doing my build
Thanks, and please do reply when/if you find out. The Lariat Standards 18" wheels are good-to-go with MaxTow. XLT Sport's 18" wheels are good-to-go with MaxTow. 2021 XLT 301A MaxTow is good-to-go with included 18" Silver Painted Aluminum Heavy Duty Wheels - and now in 2022 that is no longer the case? It's looking like there's something unique about the 18" chrome-like PVD wheels that makes it a fitment no-go. Or does Ford have stubborn marketers or a greedy OCD designer on their hands?

While continuing the research I may have found the answer to The Question.

All things being equal - it turns out the 18" Chrome-like PVD wheel is not.

All the other wheels I had under consideration and subsequently mention have these measurements in common:

Size: 18" x 8.5", 6 Lug, 135mm Bolt Pattern, 44mm Offset
or
Size: 20" x 8.5", 6 Lug, 135mm Bolt Pattern, 44mm Offset

The 18" Chrome-like PVD wheel is Size: 18" x 7.5", 6 Lug, 135mm Bolt Pattern, 44mm Offset.

I suppose those different dimensions make it incompatible. I don't know, I assume so though.

But why does Ford no longer include and allow 18" Silver Painted Heavy Duty Wheels on the XLT 301A with Max Tow option? Could it be that...

Adding Max Tow Package ($1995.00) to a XLT 301A being built using 2022 on-line build tool defaults to the requirement of adding the Chrome Appearance Package and 20” wheels, increasing the subtotal in that moment by $5,085.00!

Bottom line: building the XLT my way, getting most all features I want but avoiding the Max Tow Pkg. to avoid the 20” wheels (w/Chrome Pkg.) resulted in comparison to a grand total $2,435 up charge to the Max Trailer Tow Package ($1,995.00) , effectively making the actual COST of Max Tow for me - $4,430!

As I previously said, last year MaxTow came with 18” HDPP wheels (+ $95.00).

I’m starting to not like Ford.
