Agree. Maybe they will show us some love instead of hating on us for not buying a 25 expedition.
You've seen the mess this SW is and how hard it is for Ford to get it distributed. Don't forget that '25 expedition is running a completely different platform for SW too. It moved to Android Auto.

I'm more than aware off all of that. But I'm not letting them off the hook.

Their engineers likely don't know it can be done.
I was actually thinking the marketing department believes that if they release this feature to previous years, they will never sell a new vehicle again because nobody would have a reason to upgrade their 2-3 year old vehicle. 😏

Oh, they know.
Meant to be tongue in cheek. I know I'm a bit hard on them.

But why don't we all have it activated? Why has it take multiple releases to get WAL working - 2 of them coming with incorrect descriptions that have had corrections sent on them. The world has way too many automated systems to control code and roll outs. Our trucks have all of the technology in them. I truly wonder if the AWS or which ever is their service of choice and the ATT bandwidth is too expensive for them to use to push more updates to more trucks. I still don't understand why they don't think their Wifi is secure enough to push updates while our trucks are connected at home.

WAL has to be two separate ones. They cannot string these two into one OTA because the APIM is updated while the vehicle is on and running and the BCM requires the vehicle to be inhibited.

These guys are not fools. The execution is, well......questionable. Why in the case of the turn signal cameras is it not enabled for all trucks? I don't know.....imo, it should be. Why they hard coded this to only work with a trailer connected? I don't know.......imo, it shouldn't be. There are many things they have to comply with; the reasons could be legal, internal, external or a combo of these. Certain engineers work only on certain vehicles while others only work on certain modules. So if the F150 team says we don't want turn signal cameras activated on these vehicles, then the IPMA team turns off the config on the F150's.

In terms of the "bandwidth" theory? I'm not buying it. There is no valid excuse as to why these vehicles are not up to date via the OTA process at this point.

im certain 90% of what we complain about ford has nothing to do with the engineers themselves. It’s the business development teams, the marketing teams,
Legal teams, product teams. Etc. Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, etc don’t have all these nonsense departments, which is why they can make meaningful updates people like. Ford would be a better company if they fired everyone who wasn’t directly contributing to engineering a vehicle or building it.
