On the Lariat 15.5" screen, there is a button for the max front defroster (to the right of the analog volume control knob). But there is also a dedicated analog fixed button for the same operation below the screen, far left. Makes no sense (to me) that you would duplicate the interface for that operation. Instead, I'd love to see Ford replace the screen button for that operation with a customizable button -- say, for turning on/off the recirculated air function, or turning on/off the entire climate system. Those two functions require two screen actions while driving, and I'd love to reduce those actions for often-used functions while driving. Thoughts?

I like this idea and this seems like a logical spot for something different. I’d vote for climate off.

I try to use the climate sparingly for range, but the truck fogs up a lot.

From a climate off state, pressing the physical max defrost button clears the fog quickly, but pressing it again defaults the climate back to normal instead of turning it back off.

Semi-annoying to hit the full climate control button on the screen, wait for it to catch up, turn the climate system off, then wait for the full climate screen to disappear.

I’ve been trying to find a way to turn it off using the Ford voice commands, but have had no luck. Also last time I checked, the links were down for the voice command pages on the Ford site.

Button on the main screen would solve this and agreed that it doesn’t make sense for a duplicate.

If they offered flexibility on that hot spot, I'd want SPORT MODE.

@Ford Motor Company make a list of ten most desired functions, create an editable soft control for that location and let us make the choice.

I don't think you will ever see customizable anything on the screen.

In addition, you have to remember that this software is used across vehicles. Some have more physical buttons than others. Therefore, you're never going to see versions for vehicles that eliminate this overlap, i.e. a Lightning version vs. a Mach-E version, because it gets ridiculous for Ford to manage (there are Mach-Es without the physical button, and some with the physical button for example).

Open minds & innovation is possible, the designers do as many dumb things as they do useful things, provide a list of selections relevant to the platform at hand.

BTW, Harley Davidson has such flexibility on it's IPC GPS
