@tommolog posted an interview with electric utility reps from California and New York to his YouTube channel. It's a long video, but definitely worth a watch if you're interested in knowing how major utilities are thinking about EV adoption. There's some discussion about how V2L-capable vehicles like the Lightning fit into the equation as well as EvolveNY's charger rollout strategy. I also appreciated discussion about how apartment dwellers and people with low incomes will be affected by the EV transition.
TL;DR: The grid won't crash, but utilities will eventually need to generate more electricity to meet EV demand over the next 10-20 years (NY estimates ~25%). This increased demand will be mitigated through EV-specific load shedding strategies that incentivize certain charging behaviors and vehicle-to-home/business.
