I love the Lightning, and am a F150 fan in general. However, I hate the Work Surface center console. Not the concept (though I've never used it as a work surface), but the fact that it "shortens" the cushioned area of the armrest, meaning my elbow rests on the hard plastic rear frame of the console. I was sure there would be a bunch of other posts about this issue, and possible solutions, but I don't see either.

Anybody else find this uncomfortable? If so, have you found a solution more elegant than a mousepad? :)

You're right, Grumpy2, I'm about 6'2" and have the seat almost as far back as it will go. It's sure not worth the discomfort of moving the seat up, but that would work.

I'm 6'2" as well and mostly leg and don't have this issue. If it helps: I raise the seat height rather than push it back to give me more leg room. Helps with visibility over the hood too. I think you can adjust the pedal depth in most of the trims as well. Lower them to give you more leg room so you can sit a bit closer.

?I love the console. I drive great distances, and it is perfect.

So, I did adjust the seat higher and a bit more forward on my commute this morning and it did help. Years of adjusting seat low and far back made me a bit store blind to the idea, I guess.

I'd still like to find a cushion (jefrank, the one you linked only covers the already cushioned area of the console lid, not the hard plastic rear trim). However, adjusting the seat was a big help.

Thank you to those who replied.

True, but the cushion raised my arm enough that it wasn't an issue. Your mileage may vary, of course. :)

I'm 6' 5" tall and have the same problem. But it's the same problem I've had in almost every vehicle I have ever owned. They just can't build for me and my 5' 7" husband.

I too am accustomed to "all the way back, front of seat up, back of seat down" in order to support my thighs for long drives. I'll try repositioning too to see if it helps.

But... on the flip side... if I and another person who is less height gifted apply for the same job, I get the job every time. So...EVERYTHING in life has yin and yang. :) (And I'm not making fun of anyone because they are not as tall. Remember I married the guy who's almost a foot shorter than me.)
