Would a bed mat be OK for these use cases or should I pony up and get an aftermarket spray-in liner? Any idea on a rough estimate on the cost differences between the two?
  • I live in San Diego so weather really isn't an issue plus the vehicle will be parked indoors at night.
  • As far as things in the bed, it most likely won't be anything more than Home Depot runs, furniture, appliances, camping gear. Maybe even a bed tent for camping in the bed.
  • I don't necessarily care if the paint gets scuffed because if/when it gets bad, I could always get a spray in liner down the road.
It's been awhile since I've had a truck and the one I had was a plastic drop-in liner. Curious what the costs/thoughts are of the group.

Thanks!

I picked up a Bed Rug Impact Mat for my unlined Lightning. I plan to add a tonneu as well, but for my use case a mat is plenty.

Having had trucks with both a spray in liner and just a bed mat, I far prefer the bed mat. Keeps things from sliding around so much better - rubber is very grippy. I use a Tonneau for either.

I am with you on the inside bed scratches. A) it is a truck, it should be used. B) can always spray in a liner later.
