Remember that you can again get a 30% tax credit, up to $1,000, for the charger and installation. We have the JuiceBox 48. JuiceBox allows you to easily change the amperage in the app and gives great reporting, all the way back to installation date. And, if you install two identical models, you can share ONE circuit and load balance two EVs. Some utility companies will offer rebates too. And, by having this charger at your house, the mobile charger stays in your vehicle for use while traveling.

I have the Juicebox, and it is fine. The latest models look to be reasonably efficient. (https://www.energystar.gov/productfinder/product/certified-evse/results)

Costco is carrying the Juicebox 40 on its website again, also at $599.99 for the plug-in version (as its regular price, so you would not need to jump on it today to get that price if you shop at Costco).

Plan carefully before selecting a plug-in model of the Juicebox. You have to select either a plug-in or a hardwire version when you buy, and cannot convert a plug-in Juicebox to a hardwire Juicebox (at least, you can't do it without voiding the warranty--I couldn't say what is possible if you break the warranty seal and open up the case). Outdoor installs of the plug-in version might not be practical if the code in your area requires a GFCI breaker on outdoor NEMA 14-50 plugs--you'd end up with double GFCI protection between the breaker and the EVSE which could lead to nuisance tripping. (Disclaimer: not an electrician.)

Some other devices allow you to switch between hardwire and plug-in, like the ChargePoint Home Flex. ($750 on Amazon, today, with your choice of either a removeable 14-50 or 6-50 plug. Although, last week, the 6-50 version was $25 cheaper.)

The Costco version differs from the Amazon version, specifically the cord is 5 feet shorter. If you need a 25 foot cord (I did), buy the Amazon version. If you can make do with a 20 foot cord, you can buy the Costco version.

I should add: the 48-amp hardwire version is on sale at Amazon today for $639 when you apply the coupon. That IS a deal. And you can install that one inside or outside.

I should also add, however, that there are definitely cheaper 48-amp and 50-amp EVSEs out there. And 40-amp and 32-amp EVSEs are often significantly cheaper than their higher amperage counterparts.

Your battery is irrelevant.

A 48amp charger will charge 20% faster than a 40amp charger. It is REQUIRED to be hardwired, whereas a 40amp charger gets plugged into an outlet (14-50 outlet would match the Ford Mobile Charger).

A 40amp charger will provide approximately 8.2kW to the truck (40 x 240 = 9.6 x 85% = 8.2). Assuming you were at 10%, and wanted to charge to 90%, that would be 98kWh battery x 80% = 78.4 / 8.2 = roughly 9.6 hours. If you had the 48amp charger, it would be the same math, except with 48, yielding around 9.6kW, and roughly 8.2 hours.

The 85% represents 15% loss from wall to vehicle.

Check with your local Power company as I got an instant rebate and only paid 200$ for the Juicebox 40A 14-50 version

The 48a is only $30 more...only downside is it needs to be hardwired.

Cool! This might work. We have the 40 amp Juicebox hardwired for my wife’s Mach-e. I’ll be getting an ER Lariat in a couple weeks, so it would be good to have another evse so we can keep them both plugged in for the cold winter nights. It would be nice to not have to run another circuit. Any idea how the wiring of two on the same circuit is accomplished? Here is the current setup. 6/2 romex on a 50 amp breaker from the panel to the load center.

I am not an electrician, nor do I play one on TV, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

However, if you buy the identical model JuiceBox charger, hooked up properly, and set for load sharing, the two chargers communicate. They both start at 6amps, then see if the other is charging or not. When only one is charging, it goes to full power. If another is plugged in, it will start at 8amps, then ramp up to 50% while the first charger ramps down to 50%.

I believe you would run the other JB cable into your box, and connect all the wires together, and that's that.

Here's an explanation.
