My truck has been stuck in an update limbo since November 18th where it downloaded 2.75Gb of data.
Something interrupted the update and it's been stuck causing it to not turn off modules and drains my battery if I don't start it a couple of times a day.

I bought a 2-day FRDS license last Friday and downloaded the APIM update to the USB which was not nearly as big as it should be for the supposed Map update as well.

It downloaded 3.8Gb of data.

The issue is that it will not start the update from USB (I've tried 20 different drives and types)
I'm concerned that my truck thought it updated a particular part of the APIM and reported it to Ford, but it never applied it.
When FRDS creates the USB it pulls the needed files from the DB.

Is there anyone in the US that has updated their APIM and still has the files?
Here is the files currently on the drive:
Ford F-150 Lightning Anyone here with FRDS license that has updated there APIM? 1638469761226

I refuse to believe I need to take my truck in to the dealer and have them try because it's the same software they will use.
I also don't think I need to have my APIM module replaced.

I am going in on Monday to have them do this. Where did you get the FDRS license and did you buy a ford VCM?

Nope :(

I tried dozens of drives. Something with the stuck APIM update is blocking loading from USB.
I reached out to the early access team and they said they will use my VIN as one to work on the fix and let me know what they need me to do. That was last Friday!

How long did you let the usb sit? Sometimes it take 10-15 mins. The TSB also states all doors must remain closed until restart required shows. Once that displays turn the ignition off for min 10 mins make sure to open the driver door and close it.
After 10 min start the car and wait for the update complete message to display.

the problem with the sync 4 updates is they take forever to start.
Also drive needs to be formatted to exfat

I have updated many of these

yep… I almost forgot about until you reminded me I did it
Oh. Yeah sorry. Wouldn’t know why that is.
Those are the 21146 files for sure.

there should be the folder with the updates files you showed and the manifest with your vin in the file name on the root of the usb.

I can update the apim for you but you would have to send it to me. Unless you’re in Dallas

the last thing I would suggest and I know you wouldnt want to is a master reset.. then do the update right after.

the only issue with a master Reset it will drop your FordPass activation.

Tried the master reset... no dice the update is stuck.
I’m genuinely curious what would do that I couldn’t do to restore it?
I have access to a plethora of tools and software myself.

Just a thought.
When updating the sync system on my 2015 f150. The truck would not read the USB unless in was formatted with fat32 file system. Windows 7 thru current will automatically format the USB drive NTFS and the vehicle will not read it. To format fat32 I ended up formatting the USB with an old win xp laptop and transferring the files on Xp. The truck then read the disk instantly.

Cool… How are you forcing them are you writing directly to the EPROM/ROM? or do you have access to a reformatter like the sync3 had?

Yeah FAT32 is not supported anymore. The new system requires exFAT :|
