Hopefully the eTaco's charging and battery management system is better than the BuzzForce (Bz4X). The charging curve on that thing is really awful.

Ford better hurry up with the EV Ranger and Maverick or the Tacoma will own that segment from the start

Not sure what news is here about an EV... Unless I am mistaken, this is all speculation and nothing that came from recent news (Toyota had an EV concept late last year).

"From this information, our artists have rendered up this CGI preview of the next Tacoma’s design"

Not sure why they think 2024 is a launch timeframe.

There's literally no information about the EV.

Given the BZ4X, the Tacoma will be 2wd only, under 250hp, about 200 miles of range, and 100kw max charging for about the same price as the Lightning.

For reference, Ford released a video of an F150L prototype pulling a train in July 2019. The render in the OP is based on a ostensibly non-functional prototype that Toyota previewed this Spring.

Would love for them to begin production in late 2023 (the more competition in the space the better) but I'm doubtful that Toyota is going to make that deadline.

Toyota is totally mailing it in.

"Guys, we need a new EV truck like now, but we spent the past 10 years procrastinating. What do we do?"

"How about painting the grill and throwing in some batteries from the Prius?"

"Ok, sounds good."
