Update: followed instructions here and Approach Lighting is now working, and I have the toggle in the Settings - Lighting sub-menu as well.

I found it very odd that when I review the Ford order sheet, changes to Job 2, for my 2025 everything stacks up properly (such as no phone charger, no console work platform, no step tailgate or work area liner, etc.) except the mention of "Passive Entry with Approach Detection." However, enabling the Approach Detection items in the Body Control Module, and making the change to enable Approach Lighting works perfectly.

Weird, to say the least ... but I'm happy now!! Yeah, I know this is such a minor thing ... but where we park the truck in our driveway is very dark at night and having the lighting come on as we walk up is very convenient!!

Cheers!!

Ken
That is one of the many features that I don’t really think about much but absolutely love about my truck!!

Sorry, I meant to reply sooner and kind of forgot.

I'm not on one side or the other personally, I use AI daily both personally and professionally and find it increadibly useful.

What I was trying to convey is that AI is only as good as the information that is availible, so if you have things that are well covered and (ideally) structured - like programming, it's amazing. But on other topics, say, "F150 Lightning thermal management of HVB" and things start to get sketchy simply because there isnt' enough information out there to draw a definitive conclusion. But AI will still reply back with a dissertation on the topic siting Reddit posts and some random news article where someone had mentioned that "yes, they do monitor the temperature of the battery" as "proof" that they do this that and the other, when in fact, we have more or less ZERO information on how it actually works.

People in general doesn't have the patience to be critical of the source or the information they're given, they simply accept it at face value and many times report it back as facts and now you have people feeding AI what AI fed them and it's a slippery slope in my opinion.

Forescan (since we're on that topic) is another thing - it's very well covered on ICE F150, but not so much on Lightning, so - personally - I'd take the result as useful, but with a grain of salt.
I would definitely double check the sources and the information that is being reported back to me before I accept whatever it is as true / facts.
Amen to that!

Dr. Gemini AI, physician from the google hospital, has become my primary physician. He/she is on call day and night and doesn't charge me a dime. Plugged in some of my blood test results the other day to learn what is going on.

Be VERY careful about how you ask questions of an AI. They always try to answer, and if they can't find any relevant information, they will quickly make stuff up. You always have to couch the questions in terms like, "only provide very high-confidence answers, otherwise just say that you're not sure". It's quite annoying.

Hi all,

Thanks a lot for all the great sharing here – the thread and the Excel sheet overview are super helpful!

I just got my 2024 Lariat and managed to tweak a few things with Forscan:

  1. Enabled glare-free headlights
  2. Removed MPH display when activating km/h (now only km/h shows, IPC 720-04-02)
  3. Disabled seatbelt chime and door ajar warning
  4. Set EU traffic sign recognition + round speed limit icons in the cluster. (IPMA, 706-04-01)
  5. Changed APIM country code to Norway, so I also got Norwegian language on the screen

Pretty happy with that!

Two questions:

  1. If I activate “automatic lane change” in the menu, lane center assist stops working – is that expected behavior in Europe, or something odd with my config?
  2. I purchased and activated the EU maps subscription in the app (after swapping the TCM, so the truck is online), but the truck still says maps need activation. Any tips?

And finally, are there any specific Forscan settings I should avoid changing to make sure OTA updates keep working? Or any tips on more to change to get better functionality in Europe?

Thaks! now I got it working :) I couldn’t program IPMA before and that was the propblem. Now I updated my forscan and managed to change IPMA codes. Matrix lights I was able to get working without changing IPMA codes.

I got stuck activating glare free matrix headlights on a 2025 F-150 Lightning. I haven't seen anyone else mention it, but glare free was activated and working, but the Sirius XM radio would no longer function. I called Sirius and they couldn't solve it. I consulted ChatGPT, Bard, Gemini and finally Grok. Grok solved it. I needed to set the APIM settings then reset it in forscan, then modify the other settings, then reset APIM again. All is well now. You're welcome future google searcher.

Nice to hear. I did the glare free but I don't remember what it was like before. Definitely see out wide in the ditches. Not happy with the distance so I drive some manually controlling the brights. I drive by a lot of well lit oil field underground storage wells, gas frac plants, truck and rail loading docks and a refinery between the home and farm. All the lights pretty much leaves it on dim most of the time and it's all deer crossing country. They even run right across into a line of railroad tank cars.

At least you didn't waste your time trying "Brad" the Ford AI guy or maybe gal for all we know. :) I got out of surgery yesterday at the VA for an umbilical hernia. I use "Dr. Gemini" to teach me and guide me through a lot of medical issues. He is really good. I worked through a bunch of computer issues with him this afternoon for an hour and he is quite the expert there.
