Ok, that was a stupid title.
Anyway, I have this clicking noise coming from my passenger front wheel well but I can't pinpoint exactly where. Has anybody had this issue on your Lightning?
It only happens just before coming to a stop or accelerating from a stop. No vibrations or other noises while driving. 107,000+ miles, bad wheel bearing?
And yes thats old C.V. grease on the frame. It has a completely new half shaft.

I think I have a similar noise. I think it’s friction brakes engaging. I use one pedal drive and am unsure at what point they are actually active.

Could be like @KahnDawg said and is just your friction brakes, or it could be the "ting" issue that the "anti-ting washer" TSB was issued for. Basically, wear occurs in the splines where the half shaft interfaces with the output shafts of the motor. As a result, there is a small amount of slop in the drivetrain. When directional change torque is applied (I.e. upon braking or start of acceleration from a stop) the slack is taken up in the opposite direction and the half shaft slips outwards or inwards slightly, causing that click/pop/ting noise.

If you haven't had that TSB performed, I'd see if you can get a local dealership to inspect if and do it if necessary.

This will manifest as one single clicking event when stopping and then will “unclick” when accelerating from a stop. Happens less when slowing up a hill.

Spline creep, indeed.

I’ve got it, just don’t want to lose truck for a couple days to have it fixed so I’ll probs fix it myself.

What is the self fix? Just wondering. Thanks.

Thanks for the info I didn't know about that TSB, I'll have to check that out.

Pull the affected axle out of the hub and lube it a bit - anti seize or heavy grease. The Ford TSB says something about a ting (?) washer that gets placed between the axle stub and hub, but I’ve fixed this on other cars with a little lube.

Any way some grease can be injected or sprayed in there with a needle or something without dissassembly? I don't have the problem but just for future reference.

Unfortunately no. The axle nuts revealed once wheels are removed are large and very, very tight, so you can’t see the splines from outside or inside. The torque on the axle nut is what applies pretension to the wheel bearing, so don’t mess with it unless you know what you are doing as our trucks are dang heavy.

I’m not able to hear the noise in the video but I was hearing an interment sheet metal like sound coming from my drivers front wheel area. Then after a 500 mile trip pulled truck out of the driveway and a whole much of lights went off and no abs or one pedal drive, was able to drive to dealer, they had to replace the wheel hub. I have a 23 lariat max tow since 5/2023, 60,000 miles, no off road, I live in central NJ. Not sure if this is a Ford thing or a lightning thing. All covered by granger extended warranty.

Watch out for CV issues which at least one owner posted about here on the forum, it could start as a click and turn into a clunk or a clank.

Same, well I don't have the clicking, so much as I have minor but noticeable slop in the drivetrain when transitioning to regen or accelerating from a stop. I might also just tackle it myself, or if needed I could even replace the half shafts if the washers don't fix it.

The driveline in our trucks, like most EVs, is very condensed with few components to loosen or to have tolerances stack, so if you’ve got noticeable slop I’d have that looked at sooner than later.
