I've owned trucks for 40 years. Best truck yet by a fair margin as long as you don't have to tow long distances. 28 months and counting.

My truck is an early 2022 build Larriat ER. It has been a fine truck, much nicer than my 2013 Larriat and about equally reliable. I am very glad I bought it. I also am on my second Tesla. Would not even consider buying an ICE vehicle. Also I have a dealer that has a great service dept.

So I am very satisfied and would do it again. For me, the test question is, if it fell off a lift and was wrecked, would I buy another one. Yes I would.

Everything different is bad, until you get used to it. I have not had the retractable shifter get stuck, yet. But I see the possibility.

I would have been happy with a column shifter as well. But perhaps a three on the tree is just too old fashioned.

Having the drop down shifter is an overly engineered solution to the fold-flat workspace. Even something a simple as a notch in the armrest would have been a good and reliable alternative solution. Although anyone with an iPhone will know the uproar that their notch brought on.

I like the center console setup. My F250SD had a column shifter(meh), my MachE & Palisade have the rotary knob. My 2011 F150 had a center console shifter…personal preference I guess!

But as far as the retractable shifter, who uses it? The only time I ever hit the button is to show someone a “feature” I never use. I suspect over a 10 year period, mine will retract less than 30 times. Over engineered or not, I think I’m good!

I've retracted it a few times when my daughter and I are eating in the truck.

I have had my 2023 Lightning Platinum for exactly one year.. Put 12K miles on it only but every time I drive it I'm very very glad I bought it.. The best vehicle I ever had (and I owned all best luxury brands before including Porsche). Never once had a problem either.. As to charging it.. I plug it in only if my SOC is below 80% and I let it go 100% every time... I've had 3 EVs prior Lightning in the past 12 years so I have a little bit of experience.... Just saying..

This morning’s commute gave me a whole new level of respect for the agility of my three-ton truck.

I was cruising toward work when I noticed a tree removal truck easing out of a gas station. The driver clearly misjudged the stop—he ended up about three feet into the road on the right side. Between us was a sedan, and for some reason still unknown to me, the driver decided the best move was to veer right and try squeezing into the gas station… where there absolutely wasn’t enough room to get by.

That’s when things got interesting.

The tree truck driver, probably startled by the car’s move, pulled even further into the road—completely blocking the lane. Now I had no clear path forward. Going straight? Out of the question. Turning right? Nope—the sedan had slammed on its brakes and was now frozen in place. A glance in the rearview showed two vehicles behind me, closing in fast.

In that moment, instinct and the truck took over. Hard left. Slam the accelerator. Hard right. I threaded the needle around the nose of the tree truck just as it moved further into the lane.

The wild part? My truck didn’t flinch. No tire squeal, no drama—just pure control. I felt it grip, pull, and power through like it had been waiting for this moment.

Let’s just say... the truck earned its keep today.

No real problems in about 20,000K of ownership (22 bought used), except for those self-inflicted-- tight garage scrapes; close encounters of the 3rd kind mirror issues...

And that frunk! Useful in so many ways-- can even sleep in it if in temporary bad graces with the wife!

Most of what we see posted is people having problems. How many people have no problems with their vehicle, charger, on any given day?

I had my truck fully charged when I left home this morning. Drove the six miles to work and still had same percentage on arrival. What an awesome vehicle!

I did drive from 300 feet elevation, to sea level, and then back up to 100 feet elevation. So that might have something to do with the SOC.
Great Today and Every Day!!!!!

Just FYI - Three on the tree is something different. Three on the tree is an H pattern manual transmission (with a clutch) mounted on the column (three forward gears + reverse). Technically a column shifter but not the same as PRNDL automatic column shift.
I had a '4 on the tree' Saab. It was a hoot, besides being a 3-cylendar 2 cycle engine ... you had to pull the stick out and put it into "2nd" to get Reverse on the column shifter.

That said, love the truck. Went through the winter on my snow tires, lots of trips up 4,000' to ski, and trips over the mountains in bad weather, towing the utility trailer one time with a big (wind sail) fridge strapped in. Averaged 1.7 kWh over the winter. Swapped to the summer tires and for the first day starting my 'summer' average at 2.4 kWh. Just about free to take a trip to the grocery store :)

14,700 miles and zero problems. Today I remembered that I was going to take an overnight trip, so popped up the Ford app, told the truck to charge up, and went back to my work. A few hours later I tossed the fridge and a couple of coolers in the bed and headed out. No drama, no 30 minutes to a gas station and back, just a tap on the phone, $0.45 to charge from 90% to 100% and that was that.

I don't have as many miles as some, and mine is only a 24, but so far so good. The only 'issue' I have is a slight rattle when it's warm outside that is coming from the passenger side, and because the cabin is so big, I can't really reach over to figure out where it's coming from. Once the cabin cools off it goes away. Need to get my wife in one day when it gets hot out again.
Also, I didn't think I would prefer driving on trips, but I really do. I'm sure it would suck going from NY to Cali, but trips that are a days drive away are so nice. Comfortable, stupid amount of storage with the frunk, just a very pleasant experience that I wasn't expecting
