If someone breaks into the Lightning and does not have a recognized key, does the interior frunk button work?

Just wondering, because it seems like it might be a more secure spot for valuables, say, at a trailhead, than the glovebox or console for something like a wallet or house keys... So does anyone know?

Not sure how to test it myself without breaking into my own truck, so... figured I'd just ask :p

Cheers and thanks, not sure where to put this one, mods so feel free to move it where it should go please.

BTW the frunk is, IMO the default safest place for most things, given how people still look at me when I put groceries into my engine bay so thieves might not even know to look there yet...

Roll down the window, lock and close doors. Leave keys far away, use interior handle to open the door. Alarm will sound, try the button.
It doesn't matter. Whether the button works, or not, doesn't matter.

Break window, open door handle. Alarm sounds. Reach down in footwell and pull manual frunk release twice. Take @Zaptor's $10 million that he left in there while hiking.

I have a locking tonneau that would be very hard to get into. I haven't tested the buttons though...

Okay... so if I remove the manual release, where does that leave us in terms of securing the frunk?

Thanks to everyone who has weighed in, and you better not steal my ten million bucks I'm stashing in there!

Cheers

Just tell me where you camp or hike!

I’m not sure that the McLaren would be any quicker!!!
The Purple P1 that I'd have with that kind of stash does 0-60 in sub 3 second range, trimming nearly a third off our trucks' times, and besides... have you seen it? No contest... lol (but I WOULD keep this truck too, of course...)
Cheers

I use a center console safe! Nothing is 100% secure but I leave my wallet and phone (ford app turned off) in there all the time when going for a run. Use the door key pad to lock and get back in.
Yeah but how am I gonna fit ten million in cash in that tiny safe? /s
That's a good idea too, I forgot they make those...
Thanks

This entire thread is epic and just what I needed on a Friday morning of a long week. Thanks for the post and all of the great (serious and not) replies. I also love my Lightning and will soon write up some major suspension work. Just waiting on parts to come in.

Isn't this the same problem? The tailgate release button is right next to the frunk button and would let them into the bed, although I think there might be a way to disable the power tailgate in the menu. Never tried.

Yes, if the buttons worked after someone broke in. But if they are inactivated, then the frunk is the only outside storage accessible via the pull cord.
