Probably smart move by Ford... it seems hard to justify utilizing the now constrained production to non profitable Lightnings vs traditional ICE pickups that are their cash cow.
Consolation: It's good for existing Lightning owners truck values

in a follow up article today the WSJ reports:
"Ford this week is also idling its Dearborn, Mich., plant that produces its current electric pickup, the F-150 Lightning, because of the aluminum issue, Reuters reported last week. "

The aluminum from that plant went into a lot of Ford's products. They are prioritizing what they want to build. Super Duty and ICE F-150 are the priority. Then Bronco and Ranger. Everything else can wait. They are spot buying all the material they can, but a lot of automakers and other companies used product from that plant and has created a shortage.
Surprisingly, I'm hearing that the plant should start producing product sometime in December, and be up to full production in first quarter of next year.
