A heated steering wheel was standard on my 2012 Nissan Leaf. It would have been nice on my 2023 Lightning Pro. Now maybe I can upgrade and have it?

I did it on my 2018 F150. Needed a wire harness, new clockspring, steering wheel and FORSCAN changes. Looks like they have the same process, but provide everything for you.

Before ordering, I would ask if thier programming process works for the Lighting. The truck in the video is a pretty basic truck. I can't remember the last time I saw a truck that needed a physical key turned to start it.

I have all the parts you’ll need, if interested.
I was going to do it myself, but Ford Motor Company made good on those of us that had deleted options like the heated steering wheel.

Ford did make good on installing my heated steering wheel. However they never did get me the automatic scales. Now I never know how much junk is in my trunk.

Sorry, I thought there would be a link on the video page:

They can check the vin to make sure it will work with your truck, btw.

This was the email I got:

It's finally here! And just in time to thwart Jack Frost.

After months of development and requests from the Ford community, we are thrilled to introduce the 2021+ Ford F-150 OEM Leather Heated Steering Wheel Upgrade Kit.

It's brutal out there right now🧊! With record-breaking cold temperatures gripping the country, there has never been a better time to add comfort to your pickup and increase its value at the same time. This kit isn't just a cover; it’s a complete factory-style replacement that integrates seamlessly with your truck's existing electronics, but it takes about as long to install as it takes to defrost your truck right now.

Why You Need This Upgrade Now:

  • 🔥Immediate Comfort: Forget numb hands. The heating element warms up faster than your cabin heat, ensuring you drive in comfort from the moment you start your truck.
  • ❄Safer Control: Cold fingers reduce grip strength and reaction time. A heated wheel keeps your hands nimble and ready for any winter driving condition.
  • 💪OEM Quality & Integration: Designed specifically for your F-150, this kit matches your interior perfectly and requires no cutting or splicing. It preserves your factory look and feel.
  • 🛠Plug-n-Play Installation: Our kit includes a step-by-step video guide and requires no advanced electrical skills. You can install it yourself in an afternoon!
  • 📈Increased Vehicle Value: Add a premium feature that boosts your truck's resale appeal and makes it feel like a higher trim level.

Just curious - How much would charge for all the parts?

$1000 oof! This will have to wait and I’ll probably do the adaptive cruise at the same time since I’ll have to swap in new wheel buttons anyways.

@chl, What's cool about your new Godzilla avatar is that the minaturized version that shows up in notifications looks like the Grim Reaper wearing a light hoodie, with a dark, ghostly (or ghastly) visage inside, derived from the dark Godzilla, with a light mist halo surrounding it. Maybe it's like that famous drawing by William Hill (My Wife and My Mother-in-Law), where you can alternate in and out of what you perceive, in the Hill drawing, either a young woman or an old woman. Perhaps alternating between alternative perceptions also applies to Ford's new UEV platform! (wrong thread relative to your recent post about that, but, oh, well!)

When you say Ford made it good. Is there a process I'm not familiar with to get the deletes back?

I know my truck they deleted scales and the tilt/alarm sensor.

I don't care much about the scales but the tilt / alarm sensor would be nice to have. Especially with this Pawl recall I would think the alarm would go off if the truck started to roll.

Did Ford replace anything other than your steering wheel?

I have all the parts you’ll need, if interested.

I didn't look up the price...I was afraid to.
Directing the Ford heat vents towards my hands does a pretty good job for my climate - if I lived in the North country, might be worth it.

There are some other inexpensive after market products that wrap aroung the outside of the steering wheel and plug into the accessory (cigarette lighter to old folks) outlet, but they get mixed reviews on Amazon for example.

In the Leaf, the cabin heater is pretty weak, takes quite a while to warm the thing up an takes a big hit on range - well, 10% seems like a lot when your range is 80 mile in the cold weather.
Heated seats and steering wheel is all I ever use in the Leaf in winter.

You know when I watch videos like the one for installing the OEM one, I think to myself, no wonder the truck costs so much! Could they have made it any harder to change things?

Had the same feeling when I saw a video about how to change a dash board indicator light for the gas gauge in my 2001 Ford Ranger - OMG! How many Ford tech hours does it take to change a light bulb?

No more can you just reach up behind the dash from below and pop out a bulb...alas.

$200 plus the shipping. Just trying to recoup a bit (I probably have about $400 in to it).
