It's a Google maps bug from a recent Google Maps update.

Uncheck "Auto update" (Auto update off) in the upper right menu while in the Google maps app of the play store. Then click the "uninstall" button. It will ask if you eat to "delete all updates", click yes. Reboot phone when finished.

You can't uninstall GMaps unless you are running a custom version of Android, but you can delete the updates. After you delete the updates, everything will work again.

Maps 26.10.something + AA 16.1.something (from Graphene app store) = 0 mi bug still present. Looks like it takes updating both to fix it.

GrapheneOS just dropped Android Auto 16.4.661xyz . Distance to waypoint is now showing on the binnacle as expected.

Not likely that my '22 will get Android Auto triggered preconditioning (because the Ford navigation system is absolutely unusable trash), but I have my fingers crossed anyway.
