That worked, thanks for the tip.It's a Google maps bug from a recent Google Maps update.
Uncheck "Auto update" (Auto update off) in the upper right menu while in the Google maps app of the play store. Then click the "uninstall" button. It will ask if you eat to "delete all updates", click yes. Reboot phone when finished.
You can't uninstall GMaps unless you are running a custom version of Android, but you can delete the updates. After you delete the updates, everything will work again.
