Where I live the A/C is on from April to November. I have recently started to get that moldy odor from the vents when I first turn on the vehicle.

Are there others who have experienced this? Did you have the dealer fix it? Do you know of another fix?

Thanks

The vehicle has spent 3+ weeks at the dealer for various things. Nothing major. I just don't want it to disappear for another week if I don't have to.

Yes. Same thing with all other vehicles whether it be ICE or EV.

Basically before shutting it off run the AC with exterior circulation vs interior circulation.

Also check/replace your interior cabin filter, easy to do. It's behind the glove box.

Hello! Could you privately message us with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer so I can look into this odor concern? Thank you!

I believe I found the source of the foul smelling coming from my vent.

I took the cabin air filter out to check it for mold or signs of a mouse nest. Of course it is located behind the glove box.

I ended up finding a total of 4 stink bugs crawling on my filter. I actually found two on the filter the first time I took it out, and the smell was still there when I reinstalled the filter.

The second time I took out the filter, my intention was to use a borescope to look in the duct to see what I could see. However, when I removed the filter, I found two more stink bugs.

I wasn't able to get the borescope in the space between the housing and the edge of the squirrel cage fan blade. I didn't think the extra two stink bugs would be the whole source of the problem.

I ended up putting everything back together, and when I tried my vent fan, the bad smell was gone. So the issue must have been the stink bugs.

I felt fortunate to solve the issue this easily.
