Spur of the moment trade 22 for 25

I peaked under there and it appears the spare mount is there, so just need to find a fit. Annoying though...

The '22 that I bought for about $54K, with 12k miles, like new, was originally purchased by someone for a marked up price well over $100k. This new one was only $70k, with all of the new incentives - a bit less if you qualify for some of the other incentives.

Regarding inventory - I think there still might be quite a few different trim levels, but Platinum has dropped to or below 10. If they were all priced to what I payed, they'd be gone by Tuesday, I suspect.

I'm curious to see how the used market holds up for these, but am not holding my breath. I'm happy to have a great truck!

My '22 had 45k miles on it. Best offer was Carvana - $40.6k; dealer gave me $39k trade - saved me from having to find alternate transportation to meet in the middle to do the trade. If it hadn't been a spontaneous decision, I might have gone another route. I suspect they'll quickly sell it for $45k-ish considering the condition and options. Oh, almost missed - It was a Plat with, I believe, every option except the full lay flat seat.

Thanks! I really just wanted to extend my time in the Lightning - I'm not excited about the (probably) smaller and light duty replacement and really love the truck, even for road trips. The price was good, trade value okay, and makes me feel like I won't need to worry about it until the market is full of suitable alternative... I'm heading out in a few minutes to go pick it up. I'll post a pic when I get back tonight.

Well the new Universal Platform truck is supposed to be 'mid-sized' - and be more aerodynamic (less drag), and cost less ($30k?) than the F-150 Lightning.

Will it be more like the Maverick or the Ranger? The video linked below suggests the Maverick.

I had a 2001 4.0L V6 Ranger Edge SuperCab and it could tow about 5,800 lbs, payload about 1800lbs.

An electric version would likely have more power and capacity?

Yes smaller than the F-150, but the bed size was 6 feet long (5.98ft), larger than the F-150 so less lumber hanging out the back, more room for the motorcycle, etc.

Easier to park on the street, narrower so less likely to have a mirror whacked off by a passing F-150.

The 2026 Maverick is slightly shorter than my old Ranger, has a shorter bed than even the F-150, taller and wider than the Ranger.

Hard to know the details until Ford announces them (maybe I missed that?)



Anyway, a Ranger-sized EV truck would have met my needs if it had been available when I bought the F-150.
