I'm curious, for all Lightning owners, do you only let Comma do Lateral control? I've heard that's the way it is. I've considered getting Comma to become familiar with it so I can help with the torque interceptor project.

Yeah, most current recommendation from users here is that Ford ACC is superior to OpenPilot (OP) longitudinal (long) control.

Comma.ai claims that OP Long is superior to Ford ACC. But just like the models, YMMV based on your area, conditions, etc.

It's possible Chestnut (eGPU) class models overcome this & then are distilled to better small models.

Since you seem to know a lot about Comma, I suspect the Comma doesn't have access to the forward looking RF radar b/c it's on a private CAN bus?

If true that totally explains why it wouldn't be as good at long control?

Does Comma use radar info from any of the OEMs?

Where are the installation instructions? Do you have to cut a harness on you vehicle. Does this only operate when you are in the specific mode.

Since it's not likely something I (myself) will want to sell for liability reasons and I'm not in it for the $$$ I'm not concerned with any IP. I'm using his board for the prototype:

If anyone else here is curious why not just stop here and give it to the community like this, it's because this device should cost less than $50,, maybe it's not worth it, maybe we just need to stick with the DIY approach since we all know someone would buy this and decide to take a nap on the highway

In this exact moment, I hesitate to say how easy it is to install because I already have 10+ people asking me to test it, but, I have a VERY simple method of stabbing two probes/wires into the CAN-FD bus wires on the connector that Comma uses to middle man the same bus. This solution is very passive, it only injects button presses at microsecond accurate/coordinated times. Here is a picture of the installation, it can be installed in just a few minutes.

Yes, it also monitors the ADAS system status and only injects button presses when the system IMPA is in active land centering mode and happy.

Not sure exactly what you are asking here, but NO, this can not be done from the OBD port. If that was possible there would immediately be devices available form china the same month the truck was released

@ZSC100 Not to derail and not sure if this can be applied and worked out with your abilities... Where is the pro-power version of pushing the little green outlet button on an unused outlet to mess with pro power with the truck off that is trying to turn off at 6 minutes with less than the minimum load?
