DIY: Installing ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) and LKA (Lane Keep Alert) to 2022 F-150 Lightning XLT

Long time reader, first time poster. Trying to make sure I get everything sorted before buying parts.
I've got pictures of both sides of my C265 as I'm trying to not have to take the bumper off until I have all the parts needed to actually do the job.

Based on my understanding of:

At the C265 plug if I have the correct wires on both sides I should be all plumbed up up to the C134-C1897 harness which is the one I have to buy that has the 4 wire plug on it for the actual CCM.

Given these wires that (I think... I'm colorblind) are present I should only need the actual radar module w/ bracket and the C134-C1897 harness and some Ford Body bolts to connect it to the frame? I'm fine w/ the level 3 locked distance for now as I plan to eventually upgrade to a heated steering wheel and will do those buttons then.

Looks awesome, but if you are colorblind how do you expect to have confidence in what you are doing and how did you make these pictures w/labels?

A very patient wife, and years of electronics tinkering since adolescence (I remember when Arduinos used to be on atmega8s!) .

I think that's all the color matching ill need to do. Everything else should be plug and play with the new harnesses.

@primer It looks like you have the correct wiring preinstalled. If you really want to be safe then check the wiring at C242B at the IPMA (driver side footwell). It's quick and easy to check the wiring there.

And just curious, I'm assuming you have the tow tech package? (front parking sensors + 360 cameras)

Ah yes I already checked that as well. I'm all wired up there. That one was easy since I could actually pull the connector and see wires vs no wires. The C265 is WAY back in there.

I do have the front parking sensors and 360 cameras, yes.

@primer Got it. Since you have the parking sensors, then there is a chance your existing bumper harness (with C134 on the end) already has a plug for the CCM/Radar, but isn't being used. All that to say, you might only need the CCM, bracket, and screws.

Someone that has installed the ACC/LKA that already had the tow tech package from the factory could probably confirm that or not. If the plug isn't there, then you would only need to run a harness from C134 to the CCM as you suggested in your initial post.

Pulling off the bumper and/or the frunk tub and upper bumper cover trim is the easiest way to 100% verify if you have the wires to either side of the bumper connector.

Not the bumper, but you would need to remove the frunk and the front trim piece that contains the front parking sensors. You can see C134 easily without touching the bumper.

EDIT: I'm not thinking. The front parking sensors are in the bumper, which makes it even easier. Just that front trim that connects from wheelwell to wheelwell, and also the frunk.

EDIT #2: To just check the wiring you wouldn't need to remove the bumper, but you will to install the CCM. Sorry for any confusion.

Since you have experience with electronics I wouldn't even buy a new harness. Just make your own.

I thought about making my own connector if I didn't have C265 wired up already, and just running it straight to the IPMA, but since I do, if I can keep it stock-ish with an extra few bucks, might as well.

If you have the wiring all the way to the front bumper connector that is amazing and it will be a fairly easy install with only the front bumper harness install.

I'm gonna see if I can get a camera snake up in there from the panel next to the driver headlight. Would the connector just be like... open? Or with some sort of cap on it?

You'll need to remove the little plastic cover over the wires. Its just a zip tie holding it on though. Pics attached, for example.

You do you, but buying a whole new harness will be more expensive and more work than creating your own.

Yes, you could do that to check if your existing bumper harness has the connector for the CCM. That's a good point.

You likely have the needed wires going from C134 to C265, but that's what you'd also want to verify. If you do have those wires but not the connector for the CCM, then you'll either need to buy a whole new bumper harness or make your own going from C134 directly to the CCM.
