Will do!
Definitely would be a pain in the ass to deal with on a cross country trip. I get that I could just manually close the trunk manually every time, but I'd rather not have to force those motors down so often considering I access the trunk often!
UPDATE:
Well as of two days ago, the trunk on my Lightning is once again malfunctioning. It's the same failure mode of opening fine, but not closing. It worked fine for about a week and then it seemed the first good rain I drove through, it failed again, but I can't be sure if its the rain...
Well that would be my safety habit of immediately buckling my seat belt when getting into a vehicle, even when moving it a few feet. (A reflex I've had ever since I was in and almost deadly car accident when I was a kid)
With the seat belt buckled, the auto park function is disabled. And I...
So this actually happened a couple weeks ago, but I wanted to have the video completed for you guys to watch before I shared about it:
Long story short, it had been a long night, but I definitely goofed and absent-mindedly backed into my garage with my driver's door ajar, and although it was at...
If this happens again in the future, it's worth doing a 12V reset (loosen and remove the negative 12V battery cable and wait at least one minute and reconnect. That usually solves 99% of these oddball software issues.
Yeah, this is so true. My political beliefs are solidly across the spectrum, I like to say: "I have an opinion to piss everyone off." The reality is looking at a vehicle purchase as political is already setting you up to make a less than rational decision.
The real question to ask isn't...
I'm still far more partial to the column shift myself, but I'm so glad to see that these sorts of mods work so well. It's great to see plug and play options.
UPDATE: Well I finally got my truck back, the answer they gave me as to how they "solved" isn't super confidence inspiring...
Basically it was throwing codes for the squeeze sensors that sit on top of the fenders that allow the trunk module to detect closing pressure. Well he tested the...
Well it's like the title says, my hood stopped closing on its own. (I can obviously still manually guide it down and push it closed) But here's the weirdest part, it will open just fine on its own, but refuses to close.
So I first tried a 12V reset(disconnecting and reconnecting the 12V...
I genuinely don't think that my truck even has that piece, but I'll check it when I get the chance. Either way, I still can't imagine that stops liquids from finding their way past...
Oh this just keeps getting more interesting! You'll definitely have to keep us updated and post pictures, cause your plans are right up my alley.
If I could have ordered my Lariat with everything it has now, but a column shifter instead of a console shifter and a split front bench with jump...
Get some more wiring harness tape on Amazon, handy to have as the factory stuff often has really cheap adhesive. Also get some orange harness tape for high voltage harnesses when or if that tape lets go too. I had that happen to me up behind the fender.

Yeah I figured it was exactly the same on the standard Ford trucks, too. Honestly what a ridiculous design oversight and what a terrible place to run a critical body harness.
See now THIS is what I want in my truck! This was what I originally started the thread for! Definitely keep us posted on how it goes, cause I'm very interested!
Was doing some in depth interior detailing of my truck before I depart on my cross-country road trip and removed the door sill trim to get all of the dirt, sand and dust cleaned up that had worked its way underneath. In doing so, I discovered something very concerning: Due to an inherent design...
Same! Was gonna post about it, but the storm took out both our ISPs and one of our two cell providers as well! So were effectively left in the dark at least connection wise.
Power-wise our house has a full home EcoFlow backup system, but with no solar installed yet the runtime was limited...
