I also ordered the XLT model without the powered tailgate package. The assist is a piston to slow the tailgate when it opens to keep it from banging open. It is listed as an option on my Window Sticker.

I stopped by dealer to see if by chance my Silver Lariat came. No, BUT they got in a black XLT and let me drive it for an hour. I loved it and I bought it! The XLT is a perfect fit for me. I really don’t care about sunroof, rear slider, rear heated seats. I’ve owned 3 Lariats and I never use that stuff anyway. The only bummer is it is SR battery, but I can deal with it. I also like the integrated big screen better than the Lariat mega screen. Got it for MSRP 61,000. Got back my 600 deposit and now I file for rebate/tax credit. Took the back country roads home…after a quick stop at Costco to try out the front trunk lol. Im super stoked. For me, the right decision!

The XLT is perfect IMO. I'm not a fan of leather seats, sun roofs or the 15" vertical display.

Got to try out a taste of towing with the lightning over the weekend. I didn't need to go far but it was high 30s each trip and the truck averaged 1.4 kw/mi each way. I can not complain about that. Also it goes without mention that it towed great, and very quiet still

I’m confident I will make the purchase unless they low ball me insanely for my Mach e trade in. I will let you know how it goes with the 2k NJ incentive since they already included on the sales agreement. Hopefully they (United road) pickup tomorrow and dealership have it ready for me this Friday.

Every lightning review video I’ve watched show the tailgate is not assist however it’s mentioned that it’s lighter to lift up to close maybe that is what Ford meant?

I also heard it’s to assist in lifting and it’s. Torsion bar which cannot even be installed in models without the step. I’m trying to get my dealer to fill out the miss built. I told them I would take the piston damper in exchange

Finally saw my truck in sunlight ( cloudy, cold and rainy since I took delivery). Antimatter Blue is STUNNING on this truck. Wow. I cannot believe how much fun this is.

I agree, Antimatter Blue is amazing. I haven't been able to get much more than 200 miles per charge (90% SOC) but I know some of that is due to the crappy cold weather we've had lately.

Great weekend experience, I was able to climb a icy/snow covered hill after watching a UPS Van slide down it backwards. No problem at all...

Heading over there in an hour but they called me to talk to get the paper ready. It appear the amount they’re charging is as agreed on sales order which deduct both the Ford private offer and also the 2k NJ incentive. When I see the actual papers I will let you know for sure.

Hi 12/12 gang. As promised, here are the photos of my(our) truck. I drove it today to Monterey and told my husband that he will never get his truck back again! It's a dream to drive, I'm in love.
Final question - we forgot to ask about our $600 deposit and was told that they have to request it from Ford and it can take up to 30 days to refund to our original method of payment. Can y'all chime in on how your deposits were credited/refunded to you, please?
