If that is the case, why they didn’t rotate/spin them in place and clean them out. They can do that for ICE vehicles. Those disks look rough but they can clean them but the service department is looking for extra revenue.

They may have had enough meat on them to be resurfaced, but new rotors aren't that much more expensive than resurfacing. Resurfacing isn't done "in place" - they still have to be removed and placed on a resurfacing machine.

You're being too hard on the garage (I didn't take this to a dealer for a state inspection). I paid for a safety inspection, and that's what they performed. When it didn't pass, I got an estimate for getting them resurfaced, and decided to buy replacements and replace them myself instead.

I understand. My intention was not to be hard on the dealer. You found an amicable solution.
You said it was due to an inspection. Since where I reside, we don’t have any inspections done to our vehicles, how that inspection goes for an EV?
I expect the usual, for the necessary systems to work, for your safety and others, it must be a different check list in part to pass an inspection.

Pennsylvania has both an annual safety inspection (state-wide) as well as annual emissions inspections (for Pittsburgh and Philadelphia areas, but not applicable to EVs). The safety inspections are fairly basic. They make sure your windshield isn't cracked, brakes work, tires have sufficient tread, and all lights work (reference). They don't care if any newer technologies are working at all, like backup cameras or TPMS sensors.

When I was in Virginia in 1997, I was getting my '76 F100 inspected. Got through all the inspection points just fine. The inspector stepped up in the passenger side to put the sticker on the inside of the windshield. As he did so, there was muffled pop, and his foot went partially through the floor pan. *OOPS* Needless to say, I didn't get my sticker after all. A few hours work with a fiberglass repair kit and I was good to go. Those trucks of that era definitely had some rust issues.

I don't know what the hell you were doing with your rear brakes, but this picture isn't from Disuse! Are you smoking crack?

That's exactly how my Leaf brakes look. They rusted and have had some use since. Didn't do anything unusual with the brakes. I don't smoke crack just a little glue sniffing on occasion.
