I haven't seen any videos or people talk about the automatic parking systems -- has anyone tried it? is it worthwhile, etc? the ICE version seemed to work okay but could be a bit faster, not sure what the general consensus is.

I took my dealer’s mannequin Lariat ER, 511A with Co-Pilot…it was available on the menu screen, but I didn’t have an opportunity on this road test to try it…I plan to do another drive soon if my 6/10 Blend built status doesn’t pop up soon…..I will take it downtown and give it a try if the salesman doesn’t freak out?

I tried it once for perpendicular parking. It is a bit slow but works well. It did scare me on the final back up part because it decided to go fast and almost backed up into the wall behind the parking spot. It stopped abruptly but within inches of the wall.

Sounds useful at poorly laid-out DC fast chargers—as long as it comes with an electronic shoe horn.

There is no difference between parking on the EVs and the ICE Ford's.

You will find that it looks for open spaces next to vehicles.

If there are 4 open spaces and then a vehicle, it will skip all the open spaces and park right next to the vehicle. This alone limits my use of the feature. In a totally empty parking lot, it will never find a parking space.

I've had park assist on my last 5 vehicles. I used it once in the dealer parking lot to see how it worked and never used it again.

With the back up camera, 360 cameras and the parking sensors, park assist isn't needed.

Yet people still don’t know how to parallel park with the cameras and sensors to help. I can see park assist still being useful for some people.

They certainly don't spend much time anymore on parallel parking in driver's education.

I had to parallel-park a 45 ft school bus in a 50 ft space for my class B CDL with only mirrors, I think they should force everyone to have to do that. :)

I always love when people say features aren't needed. For them.

Usually you can find a post where someone professes how wonderful the feature is. For them.

Ford and other car makers research and analyze which features they should offer based on consumer demand.

Read a post the other day where someone wanted to know how to install Start/Stop on their new F-150 where it had been deleted. LMFAO.

IMO, where this feature would be helpful is where I'm not parking anyway. I park away from all vehicles.

Took a ride in the dealer demo unit today and they used the automatic parking to pull into a perpendicular spot in the lot.

I found it to be pretty slow, and since this spot happened to be in-between a parked car and a light pole without clear lines on the ground the truck seemed to have some issues knowing where it wanted to line up.

It pulled in and out of the spot 2 times to make some minor shifts closer to the car next to it. In the end it left about 2 feet between us and the car and 4 feet between us and the pole.

Based on that one very specific experience I would say that its more of a party trick and less of a useful feature, at least until some future updates...

edit: Unless of course you're not confident at parking a 20' long boat of a truck, in which case it can take as it wants to get you into the spot safely ;)

There was rumors long ago about being able to pull the truck in and out of spots via the app, did anything ever materialize for that?

Exactly. I have it on my Volvo wagon. We tried it at the dealer and never again. And that was almost 4 years ago.
